A threatening silence bypassed the air. Hanako looked down, refraining from looking into your broken eyes. Neither of you said anything else, actually... mostly due to the fact that the both of you gave thought into what may potentially occur.

Hanako's movement startled you. His arms suddenly moved behind his back, and his posture strengthened as he met with your eye. His expression started calming. You thought that he would be distressed or even nervous... but no, he was...

He was smiling.

It was a bright, but mischievous grin. Head tilting to the side, he excluded poisonous deceit... and read your expression in meticulous calculation. "My sweet, loving, and adorable [L/N]... What made you believe that I'm that careless?"

Although it was only for a second, his hues flicked down to the earring in your dominant hand suggestively. His glance alone was enough for a strong revelation to occur. You stood still and widened your eyes, fingers loosening around Kou's ear piece until it made a light thud against the floor. "W-What possessed you to.. plan this...? Was that your twisted idea of a joke?"

Hanako patted his chin, humming to himself until his decision was relayed by the shake of his head. "No, that wasn't it. If anything.."

"I was .. curious."

He paused for a moment. "Curious about your reaction." He then chuckled darkly, "I didn't anticipate that you'd lose your memory." When he took a step forward, you did the opposite with little reluctance. "..Though nonetheless, I was looking forward to what would happen once you found the evidence."

His eyes narrowed down to his feet. "What more; I wondered how you might deal with reality." After his sentence, Hanako gazed at you eye to eye and caused fear to rattle in your stomach. Deep down, you knew it wasn't that he wanted to see your reaction;

Rather, it was because he was tired of hiding his secrets.

Upon staring into his dark hues, you could see that... And it was vivid. Yet it was a difficult pill to swallow...-- all of it was. Your friend turning out to be a murderer, and what's worse-- you knew that he got away with killing Kou solely because he was a ghost.

"So tell me [L/N]... How do you feel now that he's gone?" His souless, maniac amber eyes began trembling erratically in his eye sockets upon another grin slipping into place. "I've longed to see Kou dead, and now that he is.. It's so much harder to keep my emotions in check."

More tears slid down your cheeks. Because of Hanako's malice, you were losing all rationality and you couldn't hide your dejected shoulders as you fell to your knees, hands touching the remains of Kou's belongings. You were quiet for some time, reaching for the earring in your cupped hands to bring it close to your forehead. Your posture slouched, and the sight struck the ghost's heart.

"Please don't mourn over him, it makes me resent him even more." You were startled since he was abruptly behind you, his apathetic voice hitting your ear and his cold breaths to your chilled neck. Remaining leaned in a little, he touched your shoulder. "But don't worry, I can give you all the comfort if you'd like."

Your instincts kicked in and you didn't realize you slapped Hanako's hand away until seconds later, your teeth clenching together while the other appeared to be very shocked. His arm lowered slowly, and then touched his side. "..Ah..."

As you had yet to gather your reasoning, you allowed those bottled emotions you tried to subdue surface. "Wh..y... Why would you do it, Hanako...? Kou didn't deserve this... Any of it.." You wobbled to your feet, and then wiped your eyes furiously. "He had a bright future, and yet you decided to destroy it without a logical excuse at all!"
