As always, you had to cook dinner, clean the dishes, shower, and eventually went to bed. You knew you were your mother's slave, but at the same time, you were a little satisfied.
Things could turn out worse than it already is.You'd rather live like this.
Moving to conquer your blankets, you'd pull the fabric over your shoulders, burrowing your head against your comfortable pillow. You didn't realize tears fell from your face until your nose started to feel runny.
Rubbing them away using your blankets, you wanted to focus and get to sleep so you could wake up to yet another page of your nightmare. It was hard to do, admittedly. But thinking about Hanako proved to lighten your face. He was your first friend in a while,
Hopefully nothing could go wrong.
Once the sun arose, you muffled out the sound of the birds chirping behind your window, but not after long did you motivate yourself to get off of your bed and prepare yourself for school. As you put on your clothes and ended up brushing your teeth in front of the bathroom mirror, you thought about the future. Will today be better than yesterday? Or maybe worse?
Not dwelling on it that much, with your belongings in your hand you headed to the door, and along the way you spotted your lunch kept inside your light blue bento container. Grabbing it as well, there was a sticky note attached onto the center. Recognizing the handwriting, you could only assume it was your mother.
"Have a good day at school."
-Mom.
It read. Calmly looking to the door, you were too accustomed to your stepmother's antics. That was all? Not even a good morning? Sighing as you handled the door knob, you stepped outside only to take a deep inhale of what nature had for you. I guess the homemade lunch from her was enough.
In just ten minutes you arrived at Kamome academy. Though the second your foot set foot onto the campus, you were startled by the apparition who'd been waiting for you. He welcomed you with his eager smile as he stared at you with his upended posture like yesterday, levitating just near your head.
"[L/N]! Good Morning!" Hanako said ecstatically, and in the process he attained your frightened jerk. A yelp escaping you, the noise was overheard by a few students, and looking around frantically you started to realize Hanako was only visible to your eye.
"I-I'm surrounded by people, Hanako... I don't want to seem weirder than I already am.." You whispered, staring at the cemented walkway to avoid any more skeptic looks. The apparition surfaced with you at eye level, his smile swept away by his understanding nod. "Alright, I gotcha."
Circling around you, you could feel his cold arms wrap around your neck, while his chin was placed atop your head. "I'll just stay like this, then! I promise that I'll be quiet." He felt you flinch, nothing out of the ordinary. What could he say? He enjoyed the way you retorted even though you tried your best to conceal your discomfort. Although he was a ghost, physical contact like this was still enough to make your heart rate spike up a few meters.
The two of you eventually reached the high school division, where your class was located. Hanako still remained where he was, and as you didn't think there would've been any more surprising appearances, one just had to have been thrown your way. Having no time to react, someone came running down the steps you were passing, inevitably crashing into you with a harsh impact.
