The air felt like it was squeezing your lungs. You couldn't handle the heat devouring your face, for it was becoming too much to bear. 'Now Kou's confused... Why did I have to go and think like that..? I'd better get my act together before things get worse..'
"L-Let's continue!" Encouraged to flip another page hastily, once you did so your attention narrowed to the drops of blood that landed against the floor. You were so focused on it that you no longer cared about what happened a moment ago, and in just a few seconds the sight of the once white book became engulfed in red.
You and Kou could not hide your perplexed faces. The male crouched down, touching the blood so he could decipher if it was authentic. "This is.. real blood..." Right when he noted this, his blue eyes suddenly widened, and he stood up to grab onto your wrist tightly, drawing you in so he could get a a better look at the object in your hands. "This must be the red book! The one we shouldn't deal with!"
Once this was laid out for you, you quickly released the book and allowed it to hit the floor with a loud thud followed by your frightened gasp. Erupting from the blood that formed into puddles were butterflies fluttering wildly throughout the room, until eventually a large, shadow-like creature holding a resemblance to you screeched horrifically.
Before either of you could get hurt, Kou reacted quickly; holding you close as he retreated with a a jump backwards, widening the gap between you and the monstrous silhouette. "Thank you, Kou!" You breathed out, extremely grateful for his help. He nodded his head briefly, releasing you to prepare for an attack as his lightning began to build up.
Unexpectedly however, the creature came diving toward the two of you, it's wide mouth opening as it planned to swallow you whole. Yet again, Kou prevented you from undergoing harm and shoved you out of the way, collapsing onto the floor with the countering apparition trying to devour him. Of course, he used his raiteijou for defense while struggling desperately to drive it away from his face.
You stepped back. Not after long, your legs weakened resulting in your collapse since you couldn't stand the fear. Should you help him? What could you do, anyway? That monster could pummel you in a heartbeat!
As you wished for a savior, it was like your calls were granted. Had you blinked, you could've missed the quick apparition passing you, a knife prepared in his dominant hand. You were about to say something, but once you noticed that grimace on his face you had no choice but to bite your tongue. Suddenly, Kou would exhale in relief when the weight of the evil ghost lifted, and soon replacing it would be immense shock.
Your demented clone was smashed into the shelf of books after only one brute kick from your newcomer, and before it could even land on the floor to hopefully compose itself, the head went flying until it dispersed into butterflies. The main body inevitably collapsed, taking its time in dissipating just like the head, ultimately defeated.
The victor watched the insects without much thought, quietly scoffing to himself as he raised his knife a little. "... Ah, I went overboard... I should keep my emotions in check.." His amber eyes moving to the two who were still relaxed on the floor because of their bewilderment, he moved his arms behind his back.
"Missed me?"
"Hanako... you saved us..." You spoke aloud, your [E/C] orbs narrowing to his unfamiliar attire. Hanako was seen wearing a long, flowing black cape that covered his shoulders and chest, having a gold and red collar with clasps and a red underside. It had a strikingly identical look to his usual outfit, but overall; it suited him well.
