"HEYY!! [Y/N]!! YA HOME??"

"HEEEEY!"

Pounding his fist against the door harshly, he kept this up until he grew tired. Kou had ran all this way, and yet... It didn't seem like you were home. He breathed in, a shadow lingering above his eyes.

Then, with his fist returning to the hardwood, his persistence worsened. "I have to do what I can for you... So come on, [Y/N]... open the door..." He muttered aloud, glancing toward your window. The lights were off, and inside he could hear nothing but a stifling silence.

He leaned his shoulder against the door, and even tilted his head onto it as well, knocking on your door gently three more times. "You idiot... why didn't you let me know things were goin' on in the first place? Why you're always so isolated... introverted.. I could've done something yesterday-"

Abruptly, he'd lose his balance. The door had finally opened, and because he didn't want to fall inside he quickly grabbed onto the door frame. When he collected his thoughts, he looked ahead to spot a lonesome figure who held onto the door knob, one of her eyes empty and staring at the floor, the other concealed by a bandage.

Your face was badly bruised, and the same went for your exposed arms and neck. Who knows if there might've been more injuries.

The moment Kou spotted you, he looked more than just heartbroken. You had the expression of someone who's suffered enough, and because of that you could no longer hide your dull face. Your eyes maintained it's focus on the floor, worrying Kou. "[Y/N]..?"

He saw the tears developing in that twitching eye of yours, leading him to push a leg forward. But before he could say or do anything, you flinched out of fright and quickly spoke aloud.

"...I'm transferring schools."

The exorcist heard his heart hit the rock bottom. Those news were so unpleasant that his ears wanted to stop functioning completely, all for the sake of him wanting to believe he heard otherwise. "Huh..? You're... transferring...?" This has to be a joke. The two of you had only began getting to know each other, and just when you started opening up, you had to close your heart again.

"Not-uh, I'm not gonna accept this! Your mom is obviously the cause of all of this madness! I have to stop her before it gets worse than it already is!" What made your eyes widen was not his bold words, but him removing his cell phone from his pocket. You quickly staggered from inside your home, reaching for his hand.

"D-Don't do that! Don't!!" While you desperately tried to keep his attention from dialing emergency services, your friend looked especially concerned, his lips tugging down into a disappointed scowl. "Why should I?? This is abuse, and you know it! The last thing you should be doing is stopping me!" Grabbing your wrist, he shoved you away with a bit of force, going back to what he was doing prior.

The second you were pushed away, you came back with much more aggression and desperacy. "No! My stepmother... she's all that I have!" You began slouching, trying to suppress your sobs. "...I hate her, too.. But... I won't have anywhere to go... I'm too scared to be put in another home, what if it's even worse? I... I.. can't.."

Burying your head into his abdomen, judging from the silence you knew he was taken aback. You hated the way you were living, but at this point this was everything you needed, at least for survival. Kou understood, and it was because he understood that it was hard for him to say anything. In a means to comfort you, he reached to pat your back before it transformed into delicate strokes. He sighed in vanquish.
