Iylla's POV

Ojiro, Aoyama, and I navigated our way through the fire zone while avoiding different groups of villains in our path. As much as I would love to fight and take them all down, I wanted to get to my dad as soon as possible. That meant that I had to avoid as many fights as possible. We ran through an empty intersection, the last one before the exit.

We had almost made it out when a wall of flames erupted in front of us. A woman stepped in front of the fire, blocking our way to the exit. We continued on our path towards the woman, never breaking our stride. Aoyama fired off a laser at the woman, which she easily defended against by pulling her flames in front of her.  It didn't matter that she blocked the attack because it was just a distraction from Ojiro and me approaching from the sides.

When her flames dissipated, I smashed my staff into the side of her shocked face. The knockback from my hit threw her closer to where Ojiro stood in wait. The woman sent a wave of fire in my direction, but I didn't make a move to block or otherwise avoid the attack. Ojiro jumped over the woman and used his tail to smack her into the asphalt. The woman was easily knocked unconscious, and the flames followed her into uselessness. Her flames burned out right before they touched me.

"You could have at least dodged," Ojiro said to my smirking face.

"Why would I dodge?" I asked. "You had me covered."

"But what if I didn't?"

"You did, though." I laughed when Ojiro facepalmed in frustration

"Mon Dieu, to have that kind of faith in another person." Aoyama walked up to us. "Could never be moi."

Ojiro and I looked at each other and smiled at the recent addition to our duo. I hadn't spoken to Aoyama much before today, but it turns out he's a lot of fun to be around. He fit right into our dynamic and complimented our fighting style quite nicely. Too bad I had to figure it out while fighting for our lives. Better late than never, I guess.

"You got any more sleep stuff?" Ojiro asked.

"Yeah, but it's my last one." I walked over to the unconscious villain and broke a Sweet Dream Arrow over her face.

"Well, at least somebody gets their beauty rest today," Aoyama complained.

With the wall of flames in front of us gone, the three of us exited the fire zone in a hurry. As soon as we cleared the fire zone, the temperature dropped drastically. The three of us collapsed, relishing in the change.

"Enfin!" Aoyama frantically fanned himself.

"Come on, it wasn't that bad, man." Ojiro said while also fanning himself.

"Maybe for ruffians like you!" Aoyama bit back. "I, however, require a temperature that encourages twinkling."

"Twinkling? What-"

"We should get moving." I interrupted. "I'm going to the fountain, but you guys should go find the class."

"We've talked about this already, Iylla." His face was tired and disappointed that we were talking about this again.

"I know, but-"

"You're not going anywhere without me, so stop trying to get rid of me."

I sighed at his stubbornness and hoped that he would suddenly change his mind and not follow me headfirst into danger.

"Aoyama-"

"Non!" he interrupted. "I will not let myself be abandoned like trash."

I laughed a kind of hopeless laugh.
