"Y/N, you're coming with us, right?" Hange looked to you as she gathered at the door with Mikasa, Armin, Jean and Connie. You nodded your head and buttoned up your army green, long coat. "What is it you guys are doing again?" You looked to Hange, who had a weary face.
"We are paying a visit to a captive Marleyan that runs a restaurant." Hange swung open the doors of the headquarters, walking towards the carriage that sat in front of the building. Everyone began climbing into the seats, you sitting between Jean and Connie.
"Along with Zachary dead, and Eren gone... the Marleyan prisoners, the girl who shot Nico, they're gone too?" You ran your fingers through your hair as everyone nodded their heads. "Which is why we are visiting Nicolo, the chef." Hange spoke quietly as the carriage began to move.
"Levi is still gathering information from Zeke, they have yet to get back to us." Hange sighed as they slumped against the cushioned seats. "I wonder how it's going out there." You looked out the window, trying to imagine was Levi was doing out there with Zeke.
The ride to the restaurant went rather fast, since your mind was preoccupied with worrying about Levi. The carriage stopped in front of the grand building. You sat there in awe looking up at the large restaurant. "Come on. We have no time to waste." Jean stepped out of the carriage, the others following him.
You all walked up the stone steps towards the large doors of the building. Hange slowly pushed them open, ushering everyone inside. You looked around at the tall ceiling, and the shining rails. "This way." Hange patted your back, pushing you along with the group.
You all walked up the stairs and down a narrow hallway. You could hear chattering coming from one of the rooms. Hange motioned for everyone to stand and wait outside as they looked to the man standing in the room. Hange moved back as the blond haired man stepped out into the hallway.
"I'm serving a group right now. Can I show you guys to a room?" The man guided Hange and the group down the hallway to a similar room. Your mouth fell open when you saw the lavish seating, and the rows upon rows of wine. The squad wandered around the room, looking at the bottles of wine.
"Isn't this the win they give to high-ranking officers?!" Jean grabbed a bottle of wine that was sitting on a table top. Connie rushed over to him, eyeing the bottle. "Aren't we high-ranking now?" Jean winked as he held the bottle in his hand. You opened your mouth to speak, but you were pushed to the side by the blond haired man.
"Stop!" He rushed past you, grabbing the bottle of wine from Jena's hands and clutching it close to his chest. "Calm down Nicolo. It's not that big of a deal." Jean looked at Nicolo, still in shock from the man's swift movements. "It's nothing to mess around with." Nicolo set down the bottle of wine and walked towards the door.
Your eyes, along with everyone else's, followed Nicolo as he walked out of the room, back towards the room he was in before. You pulled out a chair and sat yourself down at one of the tables. Hange walked over to you, leaning on the side of the table. "Nicolo huh? Must really treasure that wine." You turned around to look at the bottle of wine that he caused a fuss over.
"Don't mind him." Hange sat down across from you, leaning on their arm, staring off into space. "I just hope we can get out of here soon and find out where Eren is." You nodded your head in agreement and looked over at the other scouts. "Everything was so much simpler when all we had to worry about was titans." You sat back in the chair and crossed your arms.
"You're telling me. I wonder if Erwin ever foresaw this and wanted to put me through this torture." Hange rubbed the temples of their head and shook their head. "Hange, Erwin chose you for a reason. I'm sure he had some idea that this was bigger." You patted Hange's hand that was lying on the table.
"I sure hope so. I'm not cut out for this." Hange chuckled and looked at Mikasa, who was standing in the doorway. "What is it? Where's Armin?" Hange stood up and everyone became alert. "Guys!" You could hear Armin's voice coming from down the hallway. Everyone immediately ran towards the door, stumbling over each other to rush out into the hallway.
Armin was standing in the doorway of the other room Nicolo had gone into. "What's going on?" Hange pushed past Armin, entering the room. You were right behind Hange, craning your neck to see what was going on. Your eyes widened when you saw Nicolo holding onto the two kids that had boarded the airship.
"Are they..." You moved closer to them, the boy being in Nicolo's hand and the girl on her knees in front of them. You looked at the family who were all sitting at the large dinner table. Their faces were stricken with fear as they watched Nicolo handle the kids.
"Nicolo..." Hange stepped towards him, but he flashed the large kitchen knife that he was holding. "They were the ones that boarded the ship! They injured one of your soldiers!" Nicolo pressed the knife closer to the boy's neck. "Nicolo, let the kid go." Hange tried talking softly as she approached him.
You held your breath as you watched Nicolo, the anger showing clearly on his face. "Wait, aren't you Marleyan... why do you care if they shot an Eldian?" You spoke up and Nicolo whipped his head towards you. "Nico. I know his family. Rose too. They're right there." Nicolo pointed towards the family, that were now standing up.
Your eyes widened, staring at the mother and father, who were shaking. "Rose... Nico... They're in my squad." You spoke and the father turned to you. "Is he..." You nodded your head and gave the father a small smile. "He's alright. Almost fully recovered."
The father sighed and looked to Nicolo. "Hand me the knife." The man reached out his hand, taking the knife from Nicolo. Instead of pointing it to the girl that sat on the floor, he placed the knife on the table behind him.
"Why are you doing this?! You're a Marleyan, not one of these devils!" The girl screamed out at Nicolo as he continued to hold the boy. "Nicolo, put the boy down, please. Nico's alright. They're children..." You stepped towards him, trying to persuade the man. He slowly loosened himself up, and the mother ran forward to grab the boy.
She gently placed the unconscious boy on the floor and the Marleyan girl ran towards him. Nicolo collapsed onto the floor, his head in his hands. "Children. I almost killed a child." You knelt down in front of Nicolo and grabbed a hold of his shoulders. "Thank you-" "Get the boy water. Rinse his mouth." Nicolo looked up as you as Hange walked over.
"What do you mean?" You sat there horrified as you looked back at the boy. "He got some wine in his mouth, it may be too late." Nicolo looked horrified as he looked into your eyes. "Nicolo, what was in that wine?" Hange stared at the broken bottle that laid next to him, the same label of the bottle that Jean had picked up before.
"I could be wrong... but I believe Zeke's spinal fluid." The hairs on the back of your neck rose up and Hange quickly scrambled. "You mean... you were serving the spinal fluid to top-ranking officers? But doesn't the spinal fluid cause people to freeze?" Jean approached Nicolo and Nicolo just sat there staring at the floor.
"I was given those bottles and told to only serve them to high-ranking officers, I don't know why it doesn't cause people to freeze but-" "So before, you were protecting us?" Jean looked down on him as Hange and Amin rushed to grab water. "Who the hell gave you those orders?" You gritted your teeth, gripping onto Nicolo's shoulders. "Yelena..." Nicolo looked at you and you looked back at Hange.
"The anti-Marleyan volunteer?" Hange's eyes were wide and Nicolo nodded his head. "I don't know if it was any of the other volunteers. She's the only one that instructed me." You stood up from the ground and walked towards Hange, watching them rinse out the kid's mouth. "Mikasa, Armin... taking the girl to the other room."
Mikasa and Armin helped the girl off the ground and guided her out of the room into the hallway. "Hange... what does this mean?" You stared in horror at the boy's unmoving body. "I don't know Y/N, but it's not good."
