The flying boat was silent as everyone sat across from each other. You could hear small sniffles coming from Rose as she sat beside you. Nico had his hand placed on her shoulder, silently comforting her. Your cheeks felt dry and chapped from wiping your tears.
Levi's presence was small, as he kept quiet and his eye focused on the floor below him. "Let's come up with up with our plan." Armin stepped down from talking with Onyankopon.
Armin began drawing out the Founding Titan on the wooden floor. He traced the chalk over the grain until he revealed an image of the skeleton like Titan. "Is this roughly what the founding Titan looks like?" Armin pulled back from his drawing and looked to you, Levi and Pieck. You nodded your head quietly as Pieck spoke up. "Yeah, thought I didn't get such a great look at it."
"It's basically a humongous bundle of bones that moves like an insect." Levi's voice was flat as he sat back with his arms crossed. Instinctively you wanted to touch him just to let him know you were there, but you knew now wasn't the time. "Eren should be near the neck like his other Titan." You looked to Levi but he didn't look over at you. "Given the War Hammer's abilities, that's not guaranteed." Levi contradicted you and you could feel a lump in your throat. "In other words, we don't know where Eren is." Armin looked stressed as he stared at his drawing.
"Even if we don't know where he is, we can blast the whole thing away. The same way you annihilated Liberio's port with the Colossal Titan." Pieck put the words out in the already silent room.
You could see Armin's expression change as his last actions were mentioned. "That certainly would be the most effective method, but we'll leave that for after we've exhausted our chance to talk." You could hear Mikasa gasp. "If there's still no way to stop Eren, that is our last resort." Armin sat up straight and looked around at the group.
"It's great to have a last resort and all, but isn't Eren controlling the Founder through Zeke? Won't the rumbling stop if we kill Zeke first?" Levi asked and Armin's eyes brightened for a second. "That's right!"
"There's no definite proof, but that's what Hange thought."
"But we still wouldn't know Zeke's location." You looked at Levi as he stared at Armin's drawing. "We'll just have to find that shithead, the beast in those bones." Everyone was quiet as Levi spoke. Everyone sat timidly as they thought about the plan. "I'll take Zeke out. Help me do it."
"Levi." You looked to him, knowing there was little to no chance that he would move like he used to. He looked to you for a second before turning to the rest of the group. "Of course. We killed many friends and comrades to get this thing in the sky. We can't allow that slaughter to be for nothing. I will do anything to stop the rumbling." Jean spoke, his hands right around the straps on his thighs. "I shot Samuel and Daz and sliced up other people I knew. I got called a traitor as I did so, all the telling myself it was to save the world. Tell me Reiner-" Connie spoke to the floor before he looked up at Reiner, his eyes filled with pain. "It was agonizing for you, Annie and Bertholdt too, wasn't it?"
Reiner looked at Connie, raising his hand to take a good look at it. "I can't even make up for the sims I committed anymore. Even if we save what remains of humanity, I doubt I'll ever forgive myself." Reiner's voice was quiet even in the silent room. "Even if we can't make up for it, let's go what we can to save the remaining." Reiner knelt down in front of Connie, placing his hand firmly on his shoulder.
As everyone took in the conversation, you could feel Levi's hand gently being placed on yours. Affection in front of others was rare from him, so at least you didn't know how to respond. You gently wrapped your fingers around his hand, but the silence was soon broke by Jean.
"We're the same now Reiner. I had no right to judge you. I became a murderer to save others." His eyes were dull as he focused in front of him. "On the night of the raid on Liberio, Eren said the same thing to me. I feel like I ujdstsnd some of what's going on his head. "Could it be that Eren wants us to stop him?" Reiner turned to the rest of the group and you looked at specifically one person in the room, Mikasa. "It's just a thought that occurred to me."
"Something that's been bothering me is that Eren had the power to control all titans and Eldians, but our powers remain unchanged."
Armin and the others continued to go back and forth, coming to the conclusion that Eren was giving them free will and was looking for someone to end it. You kept silent, your hand still holding onto Levi's until out of nowhere you felt your surroundings change.
You were no longer sitting on the bench of the flying boat, instead you were in the dune like scene where Eren communicated with you all last time. You all stood around, looking for any sign of him. Levi didn't let go of your hand as you waited for Eren to arrive once again.
