"Y/N! Get to shore!" As the gunshots began to cease, you could hear Hange yelling for you. You used every bit of your strength to fight against the current, making your way towards the edge of the river. You still held a tight grip onto Levi's body as you made sure to keep his head above the water. Right behind you was Hange as you climbed onto the bank of the river.
"Come on." You groaned as you pulled Levi up onto the bank, Hange helping as they climbed out of the water. "Get him to the woods!" Hange looked behind them at the last of Floch's followers, making their way down the river bank. You nodded as you dug your arms underneath Levi, swooping him up as you began to run towards the trees.
Hange got out her gun, keeping an eye on the men pursuing you. You pushed your way through the bushes and towards the trees, deciding to stop once you were fully covered. You laid Levi down, getting a good look at his face. "Jesus." You bit your lip as you looked at the wounds.
Now that the sun was out and the rain was gone, you got a better view of the damage from the explosion. You looked up at Hange as they aimed their gun, taking a shot at the men running towards the woods. There were a couple more gunshots until Hange stepped back from the tree they were behind.
"That's the last of the pursuers." They crouched down as you began to cover the right side of his face with his cape. "Start building a fire, we may be here a while. I'll start taking care of his wounds." Hange ordered you as you jumped up. "he'll be fine, Y/N." They gave you a reassuring smile as you stepped away from his body.
You wandered the edge of the woods, looking for any sticks that were good enough for a fire, as Hange took Levi back into the clearing, towards the wreckage of the wagon. You picked up sticks, one by one, carrying them in your arms until you couldn't carry anymore.
With the pile of sticks, you made your way back towards where Hange was sitting with Levi. They were bent crouched over his face with a needle and thread. You took a deep breath as you dropped the fire wood and began to rub two of the sticks together. The day was already coming to an end and it was getting cold quick.
You felt some excitement when there was a spark from the sticks. Soon enough there was a small flame. You carefully place the other sticks around, allowing the flame to grow bigger and brighter. "Everyone got turned into Titans and only you survived." You heard Hange whisper to Levi and you started making your way over to him.
You knelt down moving his bangs out of his face as Hange sewed up the wounds. The wounds extended from his forehead all the way down through his chin, resulting in his right eye becoming useless. His face was terribly bruised and there were small scratches everywhere.
"Probably for the same reason you're not dead yet, cause you're an Ackerman." Hange finished sewing his large wound, snipping the remaining thread with scissors. "I can do the rest, you take a break." You looked up at Hange, shooing them away as you grabbed the bandages from the small container beside them.
You unwrapped the roll of bandages, gently beginning to wrap Levi's face, leaving some of his left side poking out from the wrap. "It's so weird to see you this way." You let out a sigh as you ripped of the end of the bandage, sticking it to his cheek. You bent over, pressing a kiss to his forehead as a tear dropped down from your cheek.
You stood up and sat by his side with Hange, facing the fire. "Wat to do now. We can't stop Zeke anymore, so it's up to Armin or Pyxis." Hange held their hand to their head as they stared at the fire. "Even supposing that Eren does betray Zeke, if the Jaegerists control the island with the spina fluid, we'll be fugitives for the rest of our lives."
"A lot can happen, I'm sure the others are taking care of things right now." You lifted your head up to look beyond the patchy grass and into the tress. "Look like my turn has come, even if I thought I did the right thing." Hange looked defeated as she turned to you.
