Without a second thought it seemed, everyone was rushing to get down the ladder eager to get a glimpse of the planet we had only ever seen from afar. I stayed sat down, I knew we had landed and it was safe to get up but something in my mind was telling me to wait, that if I were to stand up I would stumble and fall. Through the loud tapping of feet on metal, and excited murmurs I finally heard the sound of the dropship door open and the flowing sound of the air pressure desperate to escape the doors, next followed a long pause of silence which confused me a little, a sudden fear crept up my spine, maybe the radiation was worse than we thought and they had all died already. But that fear was almost instantly crushed when I heard the muffled shout of a single voice. "we're back bitches!" That was when the excited shrieks of hysterical teenagers and the sudden increase of foot on metal sounded.

It was only after I heard the last of the other delinquents leave that I finally hauled myself to my feet and then made my way to the center of the room to where the ladder was. Once I made it to the bottom I turned to take in the landscape in front of me, at first it was hard to see due to the intense sunlight and I had to squint until my eyes fully adjusted, I was now taking my first steps out of the dropship and then turned my full attention to my surroundings.

Colossal, glorious, towering trees as far as the eye can see, the constant forest green was a refreshing change to the everlasting grey metal box that was the Ark. It was as if the plants had polluted the ground but instead of killing the environment, it was the environment. The air was fresh and clean, a definite shift from the B.O consumed air I was used to. Golden rays of sun-glazed over my skin sending a strange feeling of warmth through my body, both literally warm and warm because I had this strange feeling in my chest, I felt like I was home.

I had been too busy admiring everything to notice the sudden shift of energy, I looked to my left to see a big crowd gathering around a few of the louder bunch and two more who I hadn't seen before. "Two minutes down here and they are already at each other's throats... great!" I mumbled to myself under my breath. I couldn't stand people and the way they carried themselves, how they found entertainment out of pissing each other off, that's why I always stay to myself. And that's exactly the reason I found myself walking in the opposite direction to the drama, I was not about to get involved, and I most certainly was not about to let some dumb kids ruin my first day on this beautiful planet.

I had no idea where I was planning to go but I needed to see more, that's why I quickly found myself rushing through the trees, picking up my speed and breathing in the air, listening to the wind in the leaves. I felt free, that was probably just because I had been living in my tiny cell for several months and I had forgotten what it was like to run, but I didn't care, at this point I didn't even care if I got lost, because even if I did, I would be lost in the most gorgeous place I had ever seen. The picture in the books back home did no justice.

I wasn't able to run for long though as my fitness had clearly decreased a considerable amount, I slowed down before eventually coming to a complete stop. Chest heaving in an attempt to catch more air.

I had probably spent a good half an hour roaming around and admiring the plants and trees by the time I had circled back to the dropship, apparently, I had missed quite the set of events because everyone seemed on edge. Of course, no one had seemed to notice that I was gone and didn't even bat an eye at me once I made my entrance back through the curtain of trees, not that I was complaining. I edged closer to one boy to ask him what was going on, I would have asked him but once I saw the look on his face when he heard me step near made me back up immediately, it looked as if he wanted to kill me or something. It took a few moments but once I put together where I had seen his face before I figured that he was one of the few causing the ruckus earlier, his slicked-back, brown hair and his snobby face left me wishing I had never even gone near him.

I turned to walk away when his voice rung into my ears, " Can I help you?" his tone pissed me off, and his low levels of common sense did even more, I was walking away so clearly I didn't want anything from him but still, he felt the need to ask. He didn't sound sincere either, more mocking or angry I guess. I didn't even bother turning to look back at him before I shook my head at him and carried on walking. The boy clearly wasn't happy with me ignoring him and I could feel his eyes burning into my back, it took everything within me to not look back at him.

An hour or so more passed before a new commotion took place, a group was entering the newly formed camp that was starting to take place around the drop ship in the past few hours. A taller boy, Bellamy I think his name was, who had been bossing everyone around for the past few hours quickly pushed through the crowd and picked up a slightly younger-looking girl in his arms both had flowy brown hair, his slicked back and hers long and straight down her back. They looked impossibly similar and that was what confused me.

A low murmur in the crowd answered the questioning look that had taken upon my face, "That's Octavia and Bellamy Blake." one girl whispered to the girl next to her, their conversation just loud enough for me to hear. " They are siblings apparently!" there is no way that could be true, the one-child policy on the ark was extremely strict and I had only ever heard stories of children who were hidden from the council. But they were way too similar-looking and the hug they shared made it seem that maybe it was true.

The siblings caught my eye for another reason though, Bellamy had on a guard's uniform which was unusual as no guards were sent down, but after finding out about Octavia I could only guess that he had stayed on board to be with her. The girl however had a white cloth tied around her leg with darkened red blood seeping through it. what the fuck had happened?!

I quietly nudged through the crowd to get a closer look at what was going on and also to get in ear range of what the group was saying. The blonde girl who had on a large backpack and a map folded in her hand was explaining something as I got close enough to hear." We were attacked!" "By what?" Bellamy questioned with a furious look on his face, clearly worried about his sister's injury." Not what... who." another shaggy-haired boy added. "Turns out the last man from the ground who died on the ark... wasn't the last grounder." "It's true! Everything we thought we knew about the ground is wrong... there are people here, survivors" she paused for a second before she began speaking again "the good news is that we can survive! The radiation won't kill us" "the bad news is the grounders will" that clearly wasn't what we wanted to hear, but the news that came next was even worse "where's the kid with the goggles?" "Jasper was hit, they took him..." that really felt like a hit to the chest, I didn't know Jasper but knowing he was probably dead did not sit right with me.
