"There's movement at the gate!" Guns pointed and fear high the gunners waited. "Hold your fire! It's Clarke and Finn!" The gates were pulled open and the two jogged in. I expected to see Raven run up to them but she was nowhere to be seen. "We heard an explosion, what happened?" Clarke asked. "Murphy happened." Bellamy replied.
"We need to leave now!" Finn addressed everyone. "There's an army of grounders waiting to attack! We need to pack everything we can and run!" Bellamy then stepped forward. "Like hell we do! We knew this was coming!" "Bell we're not prepared." Octavia stepped in. "And they are not here yet, we still have time. Besides, where would we go?" He questioned. "There's an ocean to the East, people will help us there," Finn said. "You saw Lincoln?" Octavia asked. Finn nodded. "You expect us to trust a grounder? This our home now, we built this from nothing with our bare hands!" Bellamy was now scanning the crowd whilst he spoke to them. "Our dead are buried behind that wall, in this ground, our ground! The grounders think they can scare us, but they are forgetting one thing... we are on the ground now, and that means we are grounders!" "And we've got guns!" someone called out from the crowd. "Damn right! I say let them come!" Bellamy declared. "He's right! If we leave we may never find a place as safe as this, but if we stay... we die today!" Clarke said.
At this point I stopped listening, I had heard enough to understand the situation, and for the first time, I actually agreed with Bellamy. If there is an army of grounders ready to attack, who's to say they won't stop us when we try to leave? We are safer behind these walls. "Help!" Just then a voice cried out from behind me. I turned and saw Raven limping and gripping her side, she had blood dripping over her hands. "Raven!" I ran towards her and pulled her arm over my shoulder to keep her standing. Finn and Clarke rushed over and soon she was being carried into the dropship. "Murphy shot her..." I heard Jasper say. I followed them into the dropship desperate to help but Clarke quickly got frustrated by my pacing and sent me away.
I stood outside and rubbed my hands over my face, somehow trying to rub away my own frustration and fear. "Hey." Bellamy stood next to me. I normally would have blown him off but he had earned my respect when he turned himself over to save Jasper. "Hi..." I replied. "Thank you for what you did back there." I peered up at him. "I know you don't like me very much and I also know how much you care about Murphy." he explained. "Yeah well, I still have my morals to live by." I paused, "I'm sorry he did that to you Bellamy... and I'm sorry I couldn't do more to help you." "More? You saved my life!" He grinned at me, "Do you feel like proving yourself with a rifle again?" He lifted the gun he had off of his shoulder and held it in front of me, I took it cautiously. "Raven told me it was you who made the shot at the bridge, Why did you let everyone believe it was Jasper?" He asked. "As I said to Raven, he enjoys the fame much more than I would have..." I saw him roll his eyes playfully at me. I liked this side of Bellamy, he didn't have his fake leader mask on, he was just himself and it seemed like he actually cared. "We are increasing our security at the walls if you want to make yourself useful." "Is that a suggestion or an order?" "An order." He grinned before turning and retracing his steps away from me. I quickly found a spot at the wall with a good vantage point and prepared myself for anything that might come.
After around half an hour everything important such as rations, water and any medical supplies we had accumulated over the past few weeks were all packed up. The gates were pulled open and all 82 of the delinquents who were still alive, including Raven who was being carried on a stretcher, flooded out of the camp. We headed East just like Lincoln had told Finn and Clarke. Octavia, Jasper and I leading the group. I kept my eyes peeled and my finger carefully placed at the trigger of my gun ready to shoot if needed. We only made it around half a mile away from camp before Octavia spotted something in the distance, hidden in the trees. She held her hand up, a silent signal for everyone to stop moving. My eyes were desperately searching for movement, I even looked through my scope for a better look but I couldn't see anything. Suddenly, with pinpoint accuracy, a knife was thrown from somewhere in the distance, I felt the wind of it as it flew straight past me before hitting the poor boy behind me square in the face, killing him instantly. We all stood in shock for a moment before Jasper called out, "Grounders!" and with that everyone quickly turned and sprinted for the camp. Next to me, another girl tripped but I couldn't leave her behind. I quickly scanned the area for any grounders before flinging my gun around my shoulder, I pulled her up off the ground and practically dragged her in the right direction.
