Finn and Wells climbed the tree and began to cut the bloodied Jasper down, Bellamy busied himself by tying up the dead panther in a spare tent he had in his backpack with the help of Murphy. Clarke was fussing over me and the gash in my chest despite my arguments that I was fine. I had taken some medical classes back on the ark but Clarke had a lot more experience than me due to her mother, Abby Griffin, being the head doctor of the ark so eventually I gave in and let her clean and bandage my injury. From what I did know from medical classes I was going to be fine, there was a lot of blood and it hurt like a bitch but once Clarke had stopped the bleeding it was going to fine, definitely would leave a scar though.
once everyone was ready and Jasper was checked on by Clarke, Bellamy picked the dead animal up, wells and Finn each took one of Jasper's arms over their shoulder and Clarke helped me to my feet before grabbing the bags off the ground. "Everyone ready?" a few nods in response, "Can you walk?" she questioned me, "Yeah I'm fine."
I followed the group with Clarke leading and me at the back, Murphy seemed to be the most useless of the pack and wasn't really doing much. "Are you even gonna bother helping anyone or are you just here for the joy of it?" I snarked at him. "What you need carried or something?" he grinned back at me. "I just think that if Bellamy were to ask you to do it you would!" "What's that supposed to mean?" I could hear in his voice how worked up he was getting, usually, I didn't like to start fights, only end them, but the way Murphy just slumped around and didn't help anyone was really frustrating me. "You try to act all tough but really your just Bellamy's bitch." That really sent him over the edge, he stepped in front of me preventing me from walking anywhere, and stuck his finger up in front of me, "I'm no one's bitch!" A chuckle left my lips at that. "what?" he demanded. "whatever helps you sleep at night." I pushed past him and walked ahead to catch up to the others again.
We walked for another few minutes when suddenly my vision began to blur and my head felt light, my foot must have hit a tree root or something because it sent me tumbling, I had expected the pain from hitting the ground but instead, I felt a strong pair of arms wrap around my waist keeping me on my feet. I slowly sat to the ground with the help of Murphy who was still gripping me so I didn't fall. "You ok?" "I'm fine." he held his hands up in the air in surrender. From the tone of my voice, I guess he could tell I just needed to sit for a bit. "Hey, guys!" he called out to the rest of the group who were still walking on. Clarke rushed over to me and held her hand to my forehead, "she's fevering." "Yeah, and what does that mean?" Murphy asked. Was that concern in his voice? maybe he wasn't as bad as I initially thought. "It means she's lost too much blood! we need to hurry up and get back to camp, for Jasper's sake, and now hers too." I'm right here, I thought to myself. "Murphy, do you think you can carry her?" I felt one arm wrap around my back and one under my legs. "I'm fine I don't need carrying." I protested although I couldn't even see straight, I just wasn't in the mood for the embarrassment of being carried bridal style all the way back to camp. "Just shut up and let me help you, you can barely even stand up." He wasn't asking for permission, he was more like telling me.
I must have been going in and out of consciousness because we got back to camp much sooner than expected and the sun had started to go down. I felt myself being placed down, I opened my eyes and found myself lying down in the dropship on one of the benches that had been set up. To my left, I saw Murphy's retreating figure. " Hey, murphy..." I almost thought that no sound had come out of my mouth as I couldn't really hear my own thoughts at the moment, but he turned to face me. "Thank you." he grinned a little and walked over to where I was lying "Maybe I'm not as useless as you thought." We both chuckled a little before I shook my head at him. "Your such a dickhead Murphy." I closed my eyes and must have fallen back to sleep because I didn't open my eyes again until the sun was out.
When I did wake it was to the blood-curdling scream from the higher level of the dropship. I quickly sat up and spun my head around looking for answers to what that was. What I didn't expect was to find Murphy still sat by my feet. What was he doing here? He must have felt me sit up because he opened his eyes and looked over at me. "Morning sunshine..." he grumbled, the sleep still clear in his voice. "Dickhead." I smiled a little and lightly jammed my foot into his side. He winced dramatically grabbing his side. "Why are you still here? I don't need a babysitter." I questioned raising my eyebrow slightly. "Don't flatter yourself sunshine... I needed my beauty sleep." "Really? well, you might want to go back to sleep then because it didn't work." I laughed at my own joke and I think I may have even seen a grin lift the corners of his mouth. "Also stop calling me sunshine!" I complained. "No." "Why not?" "Because for one I still don't even know your real name, and two now I know you don't like it so it's officially stuck!" Wow. Such an asshole. He doesn't even know my name.
Another haunting scream echoed in through the dropship. "What the fuck is that?" I asked. "You really did sleep well then if you haven't been hearing that all night." I tilted my head slightly in confusion, "That is the kid we saved yesterday, he's been screaming like that all through the night." "God you really are such an asshole! He has a name you know!" I stood up from where I had been sitting and had to reach for the wall to not fall over, I stood still for a moment and allowed the blood flow to sort itself out again. "You didn't even know him until yesterday why do you care so much?" He was kind of right and I hated to admit it, I had never even spoken to Jasper before. I rolled my eyes at Murphy then turned to walk out of the dropship, I needed some fresh air and I could also feel my legs cramping a little so I needed to move around.
I circled the camp once before finally stopping at the campfire in the middle. Most people were up already and had busied themselves with various activities or jobs. As much as I hated Bellamy and the way he instantly took charge of everyone, I had to admit that he had done a good job of organizing the camp so that things actually got done. There were several people sat around the fire and when they saw me slump over to sit down one girl got up and handed me a plate of food, "What is it?" "Panther I think." "Thanks!" The thought of eating the beastly animal that had attacked me the day before made me feel a little sick, but I was too hungry to complain. "So what happened to you then?" The girl sat beside me on the log. "I saw Clarke changing a bandage on you during the night." I lifted my hand to where my scar was hidden under my shirt, I hadn't even noticed she had done that. "oh right... " I lifted a piece of meat up from my plate, "I got attacked by this thing." I laughed a little but she just stared at me open-mouthed. "Seriously?" I nodded. We spoke for a little bit but after a while, she got up to go do some job on the other side of camp, "Ill talk to you later yeah?" she asked. I nodded "I'm harper by the way!" she held out a hand for me to shake and I did, "Aysel!" I responded, " But you can just call be May." I had never liked my name, Aysel, so I usually went by my middle name, Maxine, or my last name, May.
