Fighting death

        "T-Tauriel?"   Legolas gasped and ran to her side.
'Tauriel?!',legolas was practically screaming.
This couldnot be happening....'No,no,no! he thought to himself.
He bends down to feel her heart,he feels no beat.It felt as if a heavy iron had been dropped into his stomach,was she really...dead?

NO!he said firmly to himself.and picked her up.Legolas felt that her body had not the slightest breath in it.It was limp and lifeless.But he was not willing to give up so easily.He ran all the way back to the palace and yelled for the healers to come to Tauriel's room that instant.Hearing the despair in his voice,an elderly healer came immediately.

"prince Legolas."she announced her arrival.Legolas turned and saw her.He trusted this lady,she had been so kind to him when he was young and he smiled to see her there.He felt reassured now.
The healer hurried to Tauriel's bed and felt her forehead.Legolas knew that it was cold,cold as ice.The healer turned to face the prince and asked him to leave.Legolas left the room but he stood outside,after sometime,he started pacing to and fro.Why was it taking so long?

        "Legolas?"he felt a soft hand on his shoulder,it was his father.
'How is she?'Thranduil asked.
'Not well',was all he could manage.

Thranduil felt Legolas' sorrow at that moment.It was great and mixed with fear,deep fear.Was it possible?
Was his son interested in this elleth?
Thranduil realized that now was not the time to ask it of Legolas.He made Legolas sit down..A few minutes later,the healer opened the door of Tauriel's room and Legolas was in it quicker than sight.Not much had changed,only that Tauriel's skin had a less pale shade to it and she seemed at rest,but what troubled him was that she did not move,she was still not breathing.

'What is it?Is she alright?Is she...alive?',he asked.'Yes my prince,you were lucky to have found her so soon.The spider injected her with a special sort of poison.It makes the victim go limp and lifeless,but they donot die.The spiders like to feed that way.On fresh blood.I gave her the medicine to lower the affect of the poison and I drew most of it out.But some still lingers in her body.She will not wake up,not today.',the healer said and left the room.

Legolas felt waves of relief crash over him and collapsed in a sofa beside Tauriel's bed.
He held her hand,it was warm.

Legolas smiled and gently brushed away the hair from her brow.'Come back ',he whispered in her ear,'you cant leave so soon.I wont let you'.

        The next day's sun found Legolas beside Tauriel,in the same chair,his head rested on the bed and his hand still clasped her's
        Legolas had still been asleep when Thranduil had visited Tauriel's  room early in the morning.He had seen his son sleep so peacefully.Tauriel seemed better in the light of the pale dawn.The king had not wished to disturb them.so he left quietly. 

        When Legolas woke up,he felt Tauriel's soft breathing and her chest rose and fell under the linen sheets.A smile lit up his face and he called to her.She gently opened her eyes."Legolas?"her voice was a mixture of joy and surprise.She tried to sit up,but Legolas firmly made her lay back down.
"You...have scared me so bad!"He tried to sound to sound cross.But failed.

Tauriel managed a smile and Legolas felt encouraged by that."Did I?",she teased playfully.
"YES!",Legolas said and laughed,making Tauriel laugh too.

        Tauriel looked at Legolas as he laughed heartily and a gentle sad little smile came across her face instead of the laughter.

He cares so much,she thought,is it possible that it is more than friendship between us?Her thoughts were interrupted by a gentle knock on the door and a maid came in.'The king wishes to know if you are well enough to have breakfast with him and the prince, captain',she said.

'Of course,I would be honored to',Tauriel said.
"CAPTAIN!?",Legolas exclaimed joyfully when the maid had gone. "Oh,I didn't have the chance to tell you.You are talking to the new captain of the Mirkwood guard'
Tauriel said proudly and breathed deeply.Her promise was fulfilled.
