Running and panting,they made their way from the barren land into the thick cover of the Mirkwood trees.
There, Elrond turned and told Tauriel to rest for a few minutes. Relieved,Tauriel collapsed beside a tree trunk and panted.
"How is your arm?" Elrond asked
"My arm hurts, my lord"
Elrond sat down beside her,"Stay put Tauriel,not much I can do in the Wild"
"I can manage it"she pulled a wry smile.
Horns, and footfalls
They were being persued.
"I was hoping it would go unnoticed for some time"Elrond said.
He helped Tauriel up and they both started to run again.
Running was agony for Tauriel,the gash in her stomach which had seemed to be healing throbbed with pain,not to mention her arm.They reached a stream but it was too wide to jump and obviously they didn't have equipment to cross it any other way but swim.
As soon as they jumped,the water which was ice cold,stung them like knives.
Tauriel felt the breath leave her as her lungs went cold.She kicked to the surface for air and gasped and swam the rest of the distance. Elrond had reached before her and pulled her out and they started running again.Then abruptly Elrond stopped.
He whistled,and a horse appeared,
"Take it and go!"
Tauriel knew Elrond was not to be reasoned with.
They had entered Mirkwood elven land,she knew he was safe. She climbed up on the horse and rode on to the general direction of the palace
