-"Alex are you okay?" Sam asked, she was worried about Alex. Ever since they talked with Lucille, she had been so quite and serious, more than normal. She would talk to Kara, Sam was a little worried about the DEO agent, the half kryptonian just knew there was something wrong, Alex had being so thoughtful the last weeks.
In fact, since Ruby's last Talent Show the brunette had been behaving weird. The day Ruby had stayed with Alex, in their way back to their house her daughter had told her that Alex had being dozing off a few of times while they were watching a movie.
Alex has being looking tired and pale the last days and that wasn't normal in the agent. She just looked weak and that wasn't normal in the older Danvers. Sam had tried talking to Alex but she was just too stubborn, maybe the oldest Arias was being dramatic and the brunette was just sick. But even if Alex was sick, she wouldn't let that beat her. And Sam knew, Alex wouldn't admit it that easily. And the oldest Arias might not be a doctor, and the Agent had being in that state for several weeks now.
But once again, she would ask her or Kara later. For now, they would celebrate Ruby's successful performance and try to cheer her up after what happened with Lucille. It wasn't a secret that Sam didn't like Lucy little, that kid was mean and sometimes really rude and she was messing with Ruby and now one does that on Sam's watch.
But still, that kid had something weird on her, for what her daughter had told her, Lucy was always alone and just talked with just one person, she also always looked tired and never brings food to school Ruby had also commented that Lucille always seemed in a hurry when she was going back home or how teachers never mentioned her last name.
Sam knew, Kara knows what's going on with the Agent. But Sam also knew that the other kryptonian wouldn't say anything. Maybe she could ask Ruby. Maybe her daughter knows something that she doesn't and if Ruby doesn't, Sam could ask her to the young Arias to talk to Alex; since they seem to be good friends. Going back to Ruby and Lucy's problem, honestly Sam hasn't reported Lucy as Ruby's request.
Because the half kryptonian has tried multiple times to convince the kid, for both of them to go and talk with a teacher or someone in charge. But her kid is too stubborn and Sam would always get a negative answer.
And if Ruby was stubborn, Alex was even more. But Sam would simply ask, she had nothing to lose by just asking. But Sam was too worried about her friend, the half kryptonian just wanted the best for the director and if Alex was sick or whatever the red head had, it could affect her on a mission and get seriously hurt and the mother really didn't want that, they were basically family and Ruby adored all of the girls but specially Alex, her daughter has always thought, that the DEO worker was cool.
Ever since the first time that meet when she crashed into Alex in that park. Ruby always thought that Alex's motorcycle or how she dressed or her job and her gun too was really cool and it wasn't a surprise that Sam wasn't happy by that but Sam also knew that Alex was a good influence to her daughter and Alex would never put ruby in danger on purpose.
- Lucy was so fucking relieved that Eve had come to her rescue, she did not liked a little being with a Luthor in the same room. Her blonde friends was guiding her to her car, they were going to Bob's dinner, Lucy's favorite restaurant. Although the small brunette was feeling relieved, she couldn't help but think of that agent and her friends she had spoken to less than 1 hour ago.
Every time Lucille was near the Alex, she had this feeling of safety and warm; something that Lucy only felt when she was with Eve and it took her a long to trust her blonde friend. It was the same thing with that girl with glasses Kara, that was her name right?... The point was that when she was near them, Lucy felt peace, safety and a weird type of warm Lucille wasn't familiar to.
Probably, Lucille would talk with Eve later about this because the young brunette felt weird and it made her mad that she didn't dislike these feeling, but Lucy knew she couldn't grow fond with anyone else, she had already grown fond with three people and that was too risky already.
The teen didn't need anyone else in her life, specially people who she hardly knew and because Lucy knew they just talked to her when she was rude to Ruby so of course, it wasn't because they wanted to be with her or talk with her; Agent freak and friends didn't care about her and it was totally fine, the Rama girl was lucky to have who would care about someone like her. But at the same time Lucy would admit that she wished to maybe one day have someone who loved her and defend her like that. Lucille's train of thoughts were interrupted by Eve's voice who was driving...
- "What's going on in that head of yours?" Eve questioned, deflecting her gaze from the road for a few seconds to look at Lucy. "Mhh no, nothing just thinking... It's being a long day" That was Lucille's short answer as she rested her head on the car window. The rest of the trip, they just talked about Lucy's school and Eve's job also listening to music. After other 15 minutes, they arrived to Bob's dinner.
Lucy knew that Eve wanted to talk with her. Of what? She didn't know, and that put Lucille nervous. The teen knew Eve wouldn't do or say anything to hurt her on purpose. Both of the girls entered to the restaurant and took a seat and a waitress took their order. There was a comfortable silence for some minutes until Eve decided to talk.
- "How's everything going with Tom?" Eve started. Oh! So that was what Eve wanted to talk about, Lucy had to have guessed when Eve let her order a strawberry smoothie with double serving of ice cream, which always got her hype. But that wasn't the subject, the subject now was Tom. This was her third year leaving with Mr. Adams, but Lucille knew that Eve was asking because this was the time when her social worker would come around to notify her if she would be transferred to another family or stay with Tom and Sophie.
Lucille didn't like Tom a little bit, but she prayed that they let her stay because she wouldn't be at peace if she left her little sister with
Mr Adams, if anything ever happened to her sister, Lucy would never forgive herself. At the same time, the almost teen, wished she could leave that house, she didn't like when Tom beat her, insult her or touch her.Mr Adams house always smelled like alcohol, most of the time in the kitchen there wasn't much food and Lucy and Sophie only have one individual mattress in the floor where both of they had to sleep on. Thaks to God, Sophie was only six years old just about to turn 7 while Lucy was 12 in a few months 13 but she was considerably small and thin.
But likewise Lucille always slept on a worn blanket on the floor next to the old mattress; this for little Sophie to sleep more comfortably but anyway there were days when the young woman would sleep with Sophie when she had nightmares and wet the bed. All in spite of the unease that Tom would wake up and see Lucy cleaning the mattress. Then Lucille would simply snuggles up with Sophie who normally would be crying and apologizing again and again, trying to calm her down by telling her stories or telling her about stars.
The point was, Lucy was willing to stay to take care of Sophie. There were already days were both girls didn't eat, and the days they did it was because Lucy would bring at least a sandwich to the house for her sister to eat. If the teen left, God knows what would happen to Sophie, anyone would pay the bills, Tom wouldn't help Sophie with her homework, no one would take the kid to school, the house would be a mess and no one would cook.
Lucy was sure that if she didn't live with Lucy and Mr Adams, Tom would have already beaten her baby sister to death or starved her. She wasn't being dramatic, there were days were Tom has hit her and she wouldn't be able to stand for a couple of days.
And the teen really didn't want her kid sister to go through something like that. It wasn't a secret that Tom was not a good person, and Sophie has seen some of the things Mr Adams was capable of doing to Lucy sometimes even Sophie herself. But there were things that Sophie didn't need to know about what Tom sometimes would do to Lucille no matter how much she would fight. Not even Eve knew, her blonde friend did knew a lot of things about her past but this don't.
Lucy didn't notice that she was lost on her thoughts until Eve started snapping her fingers in front of the kids face. "Hey Luce, you okay?" Lucy jumped a little surprised. But Lucy just shake her head trying to shake all that thought and answered "What? Yeah, sorry I just lost was thinking, everything alright"
