"Bye Y/N," Rylee calls looking over at you. She stands and walks around to your side of the desk. "See you, girl."
"See you," you reply. You wave to her and she smiles before walking off to the elevators. You organize the papers strewn across your desk, shut down your computer and then, begin tucking away the things you pulled from your purse throughout the day. You're just about to stand when your phone rings. You pluck it from your purse, pick up your bag, and then push it in your chair before you slide the green button.
"Hello?"
"Hey," Bruno says from the other side.
"Hey yourself," you say as a smile walks across your face. You head toward the doors out to the elevators but before you exit you clock out.
"Can I pick you up from work?" he asks. "I was thinking we could grab dinner...nothing you have to get dressed up for, just casual."
"I drove today," you say shifting your phone from your hand to your shoulder.
"That's all right, I brought reinforcements," he chuckles. "I'm in the parking lot." You feel your brows furrow but you start to smile.
"All right, I see you in a few then."
"Cool." You tuck your phone away and head down to your car where you see Bruno's Acura parked next to your car. You unlock your car and set your purse in the passenger seat. As you stand you hear Bruno's car door open. You notice that he's casually dressed in his usual extra way. The pale yellows and pinks of his faded tie-dye summer button-down bring out the sunkissed glow of his skin. His pants are tailored to his frame and on his feet are a pair of loafer without socks, as usual. With his usual gold jewelry, he's practically glowing. You walk around your car to greet him when the passenger side and one of the back doors open at nearly the same time. You notice the person from the passenger side first and your eyes do wide. His big brown eyes, large framed glasses, and deep dimples are a dead giveaway.
"Philip Lawrence!" you announce. He grins and starts walking toward you. He comes to stand before you and with his arms outstretched. You take his hands and he looks you up and down then glances over at Bruno.
"Shit, I told him I'd only believe it if I could see you." You grin and pull Phil to you. You throw your arms around his shoulders and he gives you one of his bear hugs.
"How have you been? It's been forever!" You give him an extra squeeze and he chuckles.
"It really has been, it's great to see you---almost too good to be true." As you step apart you look over his shoulder to see Brin leaning up against the back of the Acura. She meets you halfway and the two of you hug. You finally go and greet Bruno whom you embrace and give a kiss on the cheek.
"Reinforcements," you say coyly looking at him. He smirks; you roll your eyes.
"Your car keys," he says offering his hand. Your brows furrow a but you dangle them over his hand and he takes them. "Brin." She raises her hands and Bruno tosses the keys to her. He nods and she does the same. "Brin's gonna take your car home and, Phil just came along for the ride. She's gonna drop him off."
"Ahh," you say grasping the idea. You give Phil and Brin hugs again and grab your purse from your car before you and Bruno take off in his Acura. The drive takes place in comfortable silence with your hand over his on the gearshift.
After about fifteen minutes, you pull up to a small brick building---one way too small to be a restaurant. Bruno pulls to the curb, parks, and lets himself out of the car. Before you can get out yourself, he walks around to your door and offers his hand as he opens it. The pit of your stomach flutters as you place your hand in his and he guides you up onto the curb. He sets your hand on his forearm and turns to face the building.
