You are just about finished putting the final touches on your proposal when your eyes begin to wander down the bottom right corner of your computer screen. You double check your formatting and the moment you hit print, the clock hits 1pm. You grab your proposal from the copier, walk it to your desk and then make a b-line for the breakroom. Once inside you locate your container and pop it into the microwave before anyone else gets inside. A short line of containers join the line on the counter behind you and as you finish up, then next person puts their food in. You have a seat and carefully uncover your food. You start to smile before you can even register it the scent wafts up at you. You open the sparkling water Bruno packed and take sip before you gather your utensils and assemble a flavor-packed first bite; a little rice, some beef and sauce and lastly a but of sunny-side up egg and green onion. As the flavors blend and compliment each other, you smile and reach for your phone as a few of your coworkers join you as the center table in the lounge. You take another bite and then reach for your phone, you dial Bruno's number and after two rings of the dial-tone, he picks up. You turn the volume down a bit and he greets you.

"Afternoon baby," Bruno chimes.

"Hey," you muse sweetly. He chuckles and warmth rushes into your chest at the thought of him lighting up. You hear the sound of guitar strings being plucked in his background.

"It's 1:12 so lunch," he says decisively. "How's the food?"

"Good," you reply lovingly. He chuckles and you hear talking the the background but then a door closes and it's quiet again. "Well you know," Bruno says. "I remember you liking my cooking and you always deserve a little something for putting up with me so, I thought I'd treat you."

"Thank you, baby," you reply softly just as Riley sits down across from you.

"Your man?" she mouths. You nod and she grins.

"One of my coworkers is dying to know who I'm dating 'cuz she says I look happier than I was before." You look into Riley's eyes and she laughs. Bruno chuckles softly.

"Well tell her, I can't take responsibility for all of that, but I appreciate that." You relay the information and she 'awws' at you. You speak a bit longer and conclude the call by saying I love you, Bruno replies in kind and you set your phone aside.

"He sounds sweet," Riley says resting her head on her hands over her meal.

"He is," you reply without thinking. You mentally kick yourself for sounding so sappy in the moment but once the sentence settles, you rescind your regret. The other women in your department join the table and begin eating. A few comment on your meal and you explain that it was made for you and mention a bit about Bruno but, you keep it classy as not to identify him. You finish work and before you leave, you place the card from Asher in your desk beneath a stack of post-it notes. You drive directly home and just as you are about to walk into your apartment, your phone sounds. You answer it and place it between your shoulder and cheek as you open your door.

"Hey," you says as you step inside and lock the door behind you.

"Evening babe," Bruno muses yawning. "How was work?"

"It was alright," you reply. "I wasn't really in it today, I was on autopilot for the most part."

"Yeah? Does that happen alot?"

"No, I just had alot only mind. I appreciated your call though." you reply setting picking up your shoes. You head into your bedroom where you strip off your work clothes and slip into some comfy sweats. For a moment Bruno seems to let your answer go but just as you are sitting down with your meal and an episode of your current show queued up, Bruno says he'll call you back.
