Bruno and Phil stand in their assigned dressing room on one of the high floors of the record label they we're invited to earlier in the day. They are collecting their things and preparing to leave.
"Why do you keep bringing her up?" Bruno asks shaking his head as he shrugs on his coat. "I told you there's nothing I can do to fix it. She doesn't love me anymore."
"B, I just think th--" Phil attempts but Bruno cuts him off.
"Phil, there's nothing I can do," Bruno glances at the time on his phone then puts it away in his back pocket and picks up his wallet off the the table. "Can't you just let it go? She left me and she's not coming back."
"She's right there." Bruno spins around on his heels, looks at Phil then follows his gesture to a woman standing the the doorway.
"Isobel." She glances over shoulder pointing with her thumb.
"They said I could find you back here," Her deep hazel eyes wander over him then their eyes meet. "I hope it's ok that I came."
"It's...fine," Bruno says slow still watching her with hesitant, confused eyes. "What are you doing here? Why were you trying to find me?"
"I wanna talk to you." Her soft brown eyes peer into his and he nods slowly.
"Ok," he's says waving her over him. Phil slips past Bruno and Isobel and heads for the door.
"Catch you later B," he says raising one hand.
"Yeah," Bruno replies. "See you." Phil closes the door behind him. Bruno gestures toward the empty couch for Isobel and grabs the vanity chair for himself. He takes a seat, he clasps his hands in front of him and leans toward her. A look of uncertainty crosses her face, he leans back.
"What do you wanna talk about? I thought you never wanted to see me again."
"Bruno I..." She looks away from him and blinks slowly, closing her eyes for an extra ten seconds before she opens them. "I shouldn't be here, and I know that but I wanted to come see you."
"Why? You seem so happy with out me." Bruno looks away. "Heard you're in a new relationship," Bruno comments. He looks away then down at his hands. "Congratulations."
"Stop it." Isobel looks at him and her brows furrow. "You don't do that. What's wrong with you?"
"Isobel, there has to be a reason why you here."
"I don't know what to say. I had to sike myself up just to come here and I to tell the truth, I didn't think I would get this far."
"What?"
"Bruno I...I don't know, honest I don't. Something in me wanted to see you and after ignoring it for a while, I just...gave in." Bruno angrily runs a hand over his face and looks away from Isobel for a moment.
"Dammit 'Bel," she says through his teeth. "Cut the bullshit, just tell me why you're here."
"Really Bruno? Fuck, you forgot how to tell whether or not I'm serious already?!" All the anger that illuminated his face just a moment ago washes away like a sand castle too close to the shore line. Isobel, grabs her purse, coat and quickly rises to her feet. "I shouldn't have come," She throws the coat over her arm and starts toward the door as Bruno watches motionless with a look of disbelief on his face. "Who was I to think you'd listen to me?" Her voice begins to tremble; pain laces her tone. Attempting to call after her, Bruno purses his lips but each time he tries, nothing comes out. Carefully pushing past the crowd, he follows her and as soon as he reaches the lobby he searches for her. Glancing over her shoulder Isobel catches glimpse of Bruno. Shaking her head, she pushes on through and steps outside into the chilly fall air. She pulls her coat on and briskly walks down the block with lukewarm tears in her eyes.
