AFTER YESTERDAY'S EVENT, MARK SLOAN DID NOT HESITATE IN TAKING THE REST OF the day off. the moment he drove the two home, he followed her upstairs and laid in her bed with her. the two didn't utter a word, it was a comfortable silence. maeve ended up sleeping through the rest of the day, mark sloan did not leave her side. he needed her to know that he was there for her and that he was never ever leaving her side
as morning arose, lexie grey had woken up her fiancé mark sloan for work, but mark was quick to tell her "tell webber i'm not coming in. i want to spend time with maeve before she leaves" from his words, lexie could tell that mark was dreading maeve's departure. truth be told, mark missed having his daughter around. he felt like he was losing time with her. so he made a promise to himself, that whenever maeve was in seattle he would call off work
which is why, the two found themselves getting breakfast on this saturday morning "did you hear about the hipster who burned his mouth on his pizza?" mark asks his daughter as she was taking a bite of her scrambled eggs. she responds by shaking her head as a no "he ate it before it was considered cool"
it wasn't a funny dad joke, but maeve couldn't help but laugh. mark joining in on her laughter. maeve didn't know why but she couldn't stop laughing, she never imagined that a dad joke would come out of the mark sloan's mouth, which is why she was tearing up by how much she was trying to hold in her chuckles "i hate you" she jokes as she wipes her tears
"i hate that i said that too" mark chuckled before taking a sip of his coffee. as he glanced back up, he see's his daughter glancing right back at him with a smile "what?" he curiously asked
maeve shook her head slightly "i-i've just missed this... missed you" she admits before she began to pick at her scrambled eggs with her fork. maeve knew what mark was trying to do, he was trying to let her know that he was here for her and for that she was utterly grateful
after breakfast the father-daughter duo walked along downtown seattle. the two were talking about some of maeve's old childhood memories, when maeve's phone starts to go off. as she pulled it out of her purse, a small smile crept on her face "who is it?" mark asks curiously
maeve glances up at him, before glancing back down "it's just one of my co-stars. i-i'll just call him lat—" mark quickly cut her off as soon as he spotted a familiar store
"nonsense, answer him. i-i'm just gonna go into that store" he made sure not to point at it, so maeve wouldn't guess the surprise "just wait for me here" he instructed. and before maeve could reply, mark was already walking off
