I was tired, but I couldn't sleep until the rain let down, thanks to Mal0.

-Uuuu...
-Quentin, are you sure you want to go to school? -Mal0 muttered, as she tugged on my arm.

-I'd love to, but don't you think I've missed enough school these past months?

-Aww.

Leaving Mal0 behind, I went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
I left the coffee brewing while I looked out the window.

A gray sky, fitting for a city of the same color.
Drops were sliding on the glass, threatening to continue raining.

I shook my head from side to side and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth while Mal0 staggered to the kitchen.

When I returned I found Mal0, sitting in front of two steaming cups of coffee.

-Ah, thanks for pouring the coffee. -I said as I yawned.

Mal0 nodded and took the cup closest to her with both hands.
She stared at it, as if he was waiting for something to happen.

-Mal0...?

She brought the cup to her maw, tilted it slightly and poured some of the liquid....

-I can't do it! -She exclaimed, leaving the cup on the table.

-It's...
-Very bitter... -She said leaning on the table.

-Have you tried putting milk or sugar in it?

-I put both!

-...
-You don't have to drink coffee, you can make yourself some tea or something.

-It's just that...
-All humans drink coffee to wake up, even on TV.
-I just wanted to...
-...
-Forget it. -She muttered after a few seconds.

Mal0 lowered her ears and moved her cup away from her, as she looked for something to eat.

-You know, there are other kinds of coffee that are sweeter than this. -I said as I stirred my cup.

-Ah?
-Really?

-Maybe we should buy some another day. -I mumbled before drinking from my cup.
-We still have plenty of this one.

-Sure.... -She said nodding her head.
-...
-By the way, you handed over the anomaly, right?

Her intonation on the word anomaly hurt me a little, but I didn't let it get to me.

-Mhm.
-They took it away, and I didn't even get a confirmation message....

I pulled out my cell phone to check the messages, but it turned out I had several unread notifications from the foundation.

-Blah blah, mission successful, blah....
-Keep a low profile until further notice.

-They're telling you to behave. -Said Mal0, hiding a chuckle.

-Pff, it's not like I'm a super-secret spy or something. -I said sarcastically.
-...
-Let's hope Mia behaves too. -I added, finishing my cup.

-Ah, I don't know if I should throw away this coffee, I don't want it to go to waste!

After arguing for a long time with Mal0 about whether or not to carry an umbrella , I left the apartment with two cups of coffee on my bloodstream.

I had barely walked a few meters when the rain came down again, this time harder than the night before.
