...

I felt like I couldn't breathe with the presence of that man, locked in the elevator with me.

I was relieved when the elevator finally stopped and we stepped out into a small reception room.

It looked like a waiting room, similar to the one at my mom's work, only larger.

There were a couple of people there as receptionists, who greeted the man with a small gesture and then looked at me with a bit of astonishment.

With a gesture they motioned for me to approach and give them my cell phone.

Somewhat reluctantly I handed it over, feeling somewhat vulnerable without it.

The soldier slid a blue card next to a metal door and it opened, with the sound of air decompressing.

-Could you tell me where you're taking me? -I asked timidly, following him through the corridors.

-Consider it a surprise. -He said, turning to look at me.

I could have sworn he was smiling behind his gas mask, but I had no way of knowing.

-...
-Okay.

There was an extended silence as we found ourselves walking through the white corridors of the foundation, passing the occasional scientist or cleaning staff.

-...
-You know, you are somewhat known around here. -Said the soldier, without even turning to look at me.

-Huh?
-Why? -I asked curiously.

-You ask why?
-Kid, wasn't it you who managed to calm 682 down?

-I...
-I don't know.

-If I told you how much manpower and resources we've wasted trying to calm or destroy that thing...

-Oh...

I remembered 682 saying something similar, about them being unable to contain it.

-If only you'd gotten there a little earlier kid, you could have helped a lot more.

-I'm sorry. -I said, shrugging my shoulders.

From the corner of my eye I saw the soldier turn to look at me, but he said nothing and continued walking.

The man stopped in front of a door like the others, with a small silver plaque that read:

[Testing Chamber #4]

He opened the door with his card and motioned for me to enter.

Looking inside I could see two scientists, one writing, taking notes on a clipboard, and another talking into a microphone in front of his desk, both were looking at something closely.

I stepped into the room, somewhat shyly looking around, trying to figure out what they had in mind to do with me.

They greeted me briefly, not looking away from the room in front of them.

As soon as I approached the table where they were sitting I could see what they were looking at.

There was a window, or a one-way mirror mounted on the wall, which showed the room in front of it.

There was another scientist sitting in front of a table with several devices placed in front of it.

A hard drive, a cell phone, an SD memory stick and what appeared to be an old phone, all of which had a small antenna.

They were all storage devices.

-...

Out of the corner of my eye I read the notes of the scientist besides me.
