I woke up a few seconds before the alarm clock went off, and I stared at the ceiling for a few seconds.
My whole body ached, I felt the fatigue of the previous day pressing down on my body like a weight.
It had been a couple of weeks since I had inspected that anomaly with Mia.
We were spending more and more time together, to the point where I would say, I kind of considered her a friend.
Although I knew she was just using me to get closer to the foundation, so I was always taking some distance from her.
I was embarrassed, but I had finally started going to the gym.
It discouraged me, seeing people so determined and motivated to improve their fitness, and me being as skinny as a stick.
Although to my surprise, most of the people at that gym were really nice, helping me with tips and my routine.
Of course, I wasn't planning on getting as... strong as them, although I was doing it so I could gain at least a little bit of strength.
Somewhat annoyed I began to think about Mal0's current situation.
Surely they had locked her up again just like any another anomaly, in that void she had spoken to me about.
Maybe the foundation is the only barrier between the anomalies and our world. But it wouldn't kill them to be a little nicer to them.
[BEEP, BEEP]
[BEEP-]
I turned off the alarm on my cell phone with one hand, as I lazily got out of bed.
I dragged myself to the bathroom, and looked at myself in the mirror.
The scar on my cheek had healed particularly well, with the stitches already removed.
The cut was still a bit noticeable, with a darker skin tone compared to the rest of my face. I was told it would eventually fade a bit more, though.
I brushed my teeth and then washed my face with cold water to wake up.
I left the bathroom and changed back into my school uniform, a little more awake than before.
I grabbed my phone and checked messages as I walked to the kitchen to make myself breakfast.

I felt slightly proud that I had made it up the stairs to the fifth floor without getting out of breath.
Although I guess it was nothing to be proud of.
Upon entering the classroom I wasn't surprised to see that Mia wasn't there.
It wasn't uncommon for her to miss a day or two of school in a row, regardless of the consequences.
She always said that she didn't care about classes, and that she only did the bare minimum and indispensable to pass her classes.
...
I wish I could say the same, all classes gave me enormous stress, especially math and history classes.
I was never good at memorizing dates or formulas, but I was interested in computers and technology
I really hope my future job will have nothing to do with maths...
Maybe when I finish high school I will study some career related to technology.
(Maybe that way I could help the anomalies.) -I thought bitterly.
I pulled out my cell phone and set out to pass the time, listening to music and reading the school's group chat.

I left the school, somewhat thankful that I didn't have to go to the gym today.
