My teacher's words seemed to go in one ear and out the other.
I was trying, I really was. But I just couldn't concentrate on today's class.

The rest of the murmurs in the classroom seemed to agree with me.

The instant the time change bell rang, I gathered all my things and got up from the spot, waking up.

I hated leaving these classes so late, it was almost dark when the professor finally realized he had to end the class.

-I'm not going to save you this time. -A voice commented in my headphones.

I sighed heavily, as I dodged people to get down the stairs, it was always so crowded with students that it took three times as long if I didn't hurry out of the classroom.

It was nice to look out the window as I walked down the stairs, especially on these cold winter days.
The bad thing was having to go down several floors, although I shouldn't complain, I needed a minimum of physical activity.

As I went downstairs, I put on the other earphone, the playlist starting immediately thanks to the anomaly on my phone.

I would have liked to close my eyes and enjoy the excellent sound of these new headphones, but I still had to get back to the apartment.

I was happy, humming the song under my breath, my backpack hanging off the side.
The bass sounded excellent...
I couldn't even hear the tumult of students.

-What could we eat? -Mal0 asked, turning down the music before speaking.
-It would be good if we stopped eating instant noodles. -She began.
-Maybe we could...

A high-pitched scream startled me, I almost tripped on the stairs.

I quickly turned around, as did everyone in the crowd, looking at a horrified girl standing in front of the window, covering her mouth with both hands.

The people next to her quickly glued themselves to the window, a few of them even took out their phones to snap some pictures.

I hesitated for a few seconds, curiosity biting my head until moments later I decided to continue walking, since I couldn't see from here.

My curiosity got the better of me, and I went out the front door, now almost empty.

With each awkward step, I crossed the courtyard, circling the huge building until I ran into a tight crowd.

-There's nothing to see here! -One of the teachers exclaimed, forcing their way through the crowded group of onlookers.
-Classes are cancelled.
-Everyone back to your dormitories.

Under threat of having their phones confiscated, the student crowd began to dissolve.

One by one, the crowd thinned out. Little by little, I could see through the mass of people. None dared to approach.

A girl, no older than me laid on the floor, each heaving, shuddering breath of hers was a visible struggle, the rise and fall of her chest barely visible through her clothes stained a sinister crimson.

Both of her legs were in unnatural, twisted positions.

A single sheet of paper spun nonchalantly through the air, twisting and turning in the air until it was out of sight.

I stood frozen, watching that girl fight for her life, helplessly.

That scene, morbid as it was, reminded me of the conflict I had in the containment breach.
