Chapter 34

What did love cost you?

Love is irrational. 

Irrationality brings people to do things that they wouldn't normally do. We do crazy things, foolish decisions. 

Love is pretty expensive because everyone wants it——desires it. There's always a price to pay in love because it's never free. 

Now, my time has come to pay for my consequences of chosing and loving Mars. 

 But whatever it takes.. 

"Anong gagawin mo ate?" Curious na tanong ni Eris sakin habang nanghihina akong nakahiga sa kama. "Ano plano mo ngayong alam na nila ang tungkol sa inyo ni ate Mars?"

I just stared at the ceiling blankly. Alam ko na darating at darating ako sa ganitong sitwasyon but somehow it terrified me. Eto na ba ang ending ng career ko? Just like that?

"Aatras ka ba?" 

This time I look at my sister. "Of course not." Naupo ako at bumuntong hininga. "Natatakot lang ako.."

Kumunot ang noo ni Eris. "Na?"

"Na.." Napaisip ako. "Baka hindi matanggap ng mga tao."

Natawa si Eris. "Who cares then?" 

I think Eris misunderstood my concern. Wala naman akong pakialam if people disagree with my new discovery romance with Mars. 

"You know my fans Eris." Sabi ko sa kapatid ko. "Some are crazy, malicious. Remember what that group of my fans did to Cole after our announcement of engagement? They freaking ruined Cole's tires." I won't forget that. It was horrible. "Ano nalang ang gagawin nila kay Màrs?"

"Ate." Tinapik tapik ni Eris ang balikat ko. "Wag mo munang problemahin ang fans mo." Tumayo sya mula sa kama. "Problemahin mo muna ang sitwasyon mo ngayon. Kayo ni Mars." 

Sometimes Eris thinks better than me. 

"Tumayo ka na." Utos ni Eris. "At harapin mo ang media."

I rolled my eyes at her. "Opo ate."

Eris smirks. "Such a scardy cat."

"Hey." Dinampot ko ang unan at ibabato ko sana kay Eris. "I'm not." Natawa lang si Eris. "Late ka na sa first day mo sa office ni Mars. Good luck."

Nagtatakbo si Eris palabas ng kwarto ko. "Mas goodluck sayo."

Bumangon ako at napasilip sa bintana. Hindi nga ako nagkamali, ang daming nakaantabay na media at fans sa labàs ng bahay namin. Para silang nagpaprayer vigil. 

So paano ako makakaalis mamaya to meet Mars?

I even tried to call her but she's not answering. Siguro ay busy sya. 

Naligo ako para makabawas man lang ng stress ko. Bumaba ako sa kusina and surprisingly found Father, Gael and Eris na kumakain ng breakfast. 

"At hindi nyo man lang ako inaaya." Sabi ko sa kanila. 

Napatingin sila sakin. "Oh Nike, gising ka na pala." Lumapit ako kay Papa. "Akala namin tulog ka pa." He kisses my cheek softly. "Good morning."

"Good morning Pa." Bati ko.

"I'm glad that you àre awake." Anang ni Gael sakin. 

Naupo ako sa tabi ni Eris na tahimik sa pagkain at busy sa cellphone nya. "Ano balita Gael?"
