Chapter 39

Nagulat ako na aksidente kong marinig ang pag-uusap nina Tita Aby at Mars.

"Come sit down with me please."  Pag-aya ni Mars sakin.

Naupo naman ako sa tabi nya. "What did i just heard?" I even look at the both of them. "That you are.."

"You heard it right Nike." Pag-amin ni Mars. "I was adopted."

"Nakita namin ng asawa ko si Mars na palakad lakad sa lansangan, iyak ng iyak." It Tita Aby and i just listened to her story eagerly. "She was five or six that time."

"Five." Corrected by Mars.

"She got into accident bago ko pa sya malapitan." Pagpatuloy ni Tita. "She was critical and i thought she wouldn't survive that night." Ngumiti si Tita kay Mars. "And God listened to me  and answered my prayer for giving this beautiful child a chance."

"Hindi po sya hinanap ng family nya?" Curious ko na tanong.

Umiling si Tita Aby. "I don't know Nike besides Mars had amnesia after the surgery. She can't even remember her name o kung saan sya nakatira. We did our part to look for her parents though, we even hired a private investigator to find them pero wala talaga."

Napatingin ako kay Mars. "If you had an amnesia, kelan mo naalala  ang lahat?"

Mars have a thoughtful look on her face. "While i was in my class." Sumandal sya sa sofa. "All of a sudden biglang nagflashback sa isip ko yung mga blurred memories from my past. I was really confused kaya i asked Dad what are those, and they told me the truth that I was adopted."

Wow i can't believe hearing all of this from here.

Parang story sa mga telenovela ko.

Amnesia, ampon etc.

"I honestly can't really remember them." Her voice went down. "But i know for sure my name."

I stare at Mars perfect side profile. I'm so curious. "What was your name?"

She turns to me. "Elise."

It such a beautiful name. It still fits her.

"Well, i only named her Mars because I'm overly fascinated with astronomy, plantets.." Paliwanag ni Tita. "How about you Nike, why did your parents name Nike?"

"Father was very competitive in his youth, gusto nya maging successful ako sa buhay.. He's also a fan of Greek Mythology. My sister is Eris is Goddesses of strief and discord that really suits her personality. " Natawa ako. "And Nike is a Goddess of Victory."

"Perfect." Sambit ni Mars. "Because you embodied greatness."

Namula ang mukha ko but i just roll my eyes at her though. "Don't you have any plans na hanapin ang totoong family mo Mars?"

"Its been in my mind for awhile now." Honest na sagot nya sakin. "But with everything that is going on, maybe later."

Later could also mean no. I don't know what is on her mind though.

Or maybe i could help her.

Dinaig ni Mars ang pagiging busy ko sa showbiz. Kaya wala syang time to find her family. I wonder kung may kapatid ba sya, sister or brother. Twins? Parang Phone Sex Operator lang.

Since i know Elise was her real name maybe a private investigator can find answers this time.

"Anyway, let's eat?" Tumayo si Mars. "I'm famished."

And we went to the dining area to happily eat Mars made.

"Its so delicious." Sambit ni Tita. "Pwede ka na talaga mag-asawa anak and she's sitting with us right now." My cheeks heats up. "Hopefully maabutan ko pa ang kasal nyo."
