It hurts to see Mom in this kind of situation which I never thought of or prepared for. She is pale with all those wires but her face is so peaceful and stilly. Even in sickness, Mom shows that she's strong and brave, that she can make it.

I know she will.

If not, hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin...

Because my Mom is the strength of me.

But also my infirmity.

I just sit in silence next to her bed. Gusto ko sana na ako ang unang makikita ni Mom kapag nagising na sya.

Biglang gumalaw ang daliri nya.

Agad akong napaupo ng daretso as i hold her hand. "Mom.."

It such a relief when she finally wakes up. Nakatingin lang sya sakin.

"Hey, Mom." Maiiyak at sobrang emosyonal ng pakiramdam ko. "How are you feeling?"

Umubo ubo si Mom bago sumagot. "I'm thirsty."

"Oh wait." At tumsyo ako para kumuha ng maiinom ni Mom. I helped her sit up so she can drink properly.

"Wait."Tumingin si Mom sa paligid. "What happened?"

"Nawalan ka ng malay Mom." Sagot ko at naupo ako sa tabi nya. "Kaya dinala kita dito sa hospital."

Mom's face soften at hinawakan ang kamay ko. "I'm sorry for making you worried.."

"Mom.." Pagbuga ko ng hangin. "I care about you, you are the only one that i have.."

Ngumiti si Mom. "You already have Nike."

"But you are my mother." I told her sincerely. "No matter what."

"Of course Mars." Hinaplos nya ang pisngi ko. "You will always have me Anak."

Biglang pumasok ang doctor. Si Ginger Mercado as i remember her name.

"Oh, hello Mrs Estrada, gising na pa po pala kàyo."  Masiglang sabi ng doktora. Lumapit sya kaya Mom to check her IV and vital signal. "Kamusta na po ang pakiramdam mo?"

Mothee smile at her. "Mabuti buti na Doktora."

Hindi agad nagsalita si Doc. She's just looking at my Mom. "Mrs. Estrada, what is your weight before?"

Mom thinks hard. "160 pounds nang nasa London pa kami. 4 Months ago."

"That's 72 kilos and you drastically lost weight?" Patuloy sa pagtatanong ni Ginger kay Mom. It will help her diagnosis.

"Yes." Napaisip na tumango si Mom. "Is everything is okay ba doc? Malala na ba ang sakit ko?"

I just hold her hand without breathing.

"We still need to run some test for you Mrs. Estrada to make sure of my diagnosis." Seryoso na sabi ng Doctor.

"Please tell me what it is?" Ang tapang ni Mom to asked about that. 

"Mars and Mrs. Estrada." Tuningin sya kay Mom. "I'm afraid that you have liver failure—"

Nanghina ako.

"We need you to get an MRI and ultrasound as soon as possible." Dugtong ni Ginger. "If needed, i need samples from your liver for further observation."

When she said that, i know it's not just an ordinary illness.

"Please do everything for my Mom." Pakiusap ko.

Ngumiti si Ginger. "I will."

Tumayo ako to accompany Ginger outside. "Tell me doc kung ano ang tunay na kalagayan ng Mom. So, i can give her the best treatment she needs kahit na bumalik pa kami sa London."
