Harli sat alone in her room, hoodie flipped up over her head and the only light coming from her phone, which was held close to her face. The vine compilation she was watching played idly on, several repeating themselves.

"Hurricane Katrina, more like hurricane tortilla- '' She mumbled, reciting it almost robotically when the clip popped up. She glanced up momentarily, eyes blurry focusing on the clock in the corner of her room.

2:07 am. She sighed. I should probably go to bed.... she snorted, but will I? Nope.

Her phone vibrated in her hand, glancing back at it, she grinned. Of course Gia would still be up- the little insomniac. She swiped her thumb across the screen and Gia's face popped up, scowling at something out of frame.

"Hey."

"'Ello." Harli muttered, squinting in the sudden light.

"So you trying tonight?" Gia looked back at the screen and snorted. "You look half dead babes."

"Mm. The weight of my depression has decided to take up residence in the bags under my eyes."

"Harli- babe. You need sleep."

"I need caffeine." Harli dropped the phone with her best friend's face on it onto the bed, and reached over to her nightstand where several Monster cans sat, waiting to be used for something. After feeling around in the dark for a second, she found the half full one she'd been drinking and chugged all of it.

"...are you good bro-"

"Yep. Just peachy. Could be singing fuckin' kum-ba-ya right now." Sarcasm dripped from every word.

Gia snorted, her brown hair falling into her face. "Anyway. You trying again tonight?"

"Yeah probably. You?"

"Yeah."

Silence fell as their minds wandered off to the subject that had been plaguing the minds of every person to cross that side of the internet.

"You think it's real?" Gia said after a while.

Harli looked up at the ceiling, brow furrowed. "I hope it is. Basically the only thing keeping me alive at this point."

"Mm."

After a minute Harli heaved a sigh, "Well, if we are trying we should go do that now."

"Yeah."

"G'night, love you."

"Night, love you too."

The call ended, and she slid her phone onto the nightstand.

She situated herself into a comfortable position, and started to count.

The first thing she noticed when she awoke was that she was not in her bed.
