Pushing open the door, she gave Steve a grim smile as he walked past her.

The vending machine door was about to close, but she flicked her hand and a bag of Doritos flew at her, and she caught it.

The worker stared, but she tossed him a twenty dollar bill and held her finger to her lips.

Pierce had invited them both up to his office, which was unsurprising for Harli, who was often told to go up there to drop off something.

Sometimes she felt more like a messenger girl than an Avenger.

Sharon Carter and Pierce were talking in the hall, but the former turned and walked away as she saw the two coming.

"Captain Rogers, Agent Fay."

"Neighbor." Steve responded curtly.

"Ah, Captain. I'm Alexander Pierce." He held his hand out for Steve to shake.

The super soldier smiled tightly, taking the hand. "Sir. It's an honor."

"The honor is mine, Captain." Pierce turned, leading them into the room. "My father served in the 101st. Come on in."

Harli shifted uncomfortably, Pierce always made her nervous for some reason.

Her hero suit was snugly fit, and even with the coat it never seemed like enough to cover her.

Pierce handed Steve a picture, then explained the background to it.

The girl only sat on the couch, looking around the office.

"Captain, why was Nick in your apartment last night?"

This brought her attention back to the conversation.

"I don't know why he was in our apartment." Steve emphasized the word, gesturing between him and Harli.

A warm feeling shot through her chest, and a small blush painted its way across her nose.

Pierce observed all of this through cold grey eyes.

"Did you know it was bugged?" He asked.

Oh. O h . Oh shit. Harli thought, now really blushing. I completely forgot about that. Fuck.

"I did, because Nick told me."

"Did he tell you that he was the one who bugged it?"

Perv.

Steve's eyes widened.

"I want you two to see something." Pierce clicked a button, and a live video feed popped up on the holographic screen behind them.

"This is live?"

"Yep. We picked him up in a not-so-safe house in Algiers last night."
