"You'll be alright." She smiled, stepping back.
"Promise?"
"Promise."

December 25Harli had gotten in late last night after Bucky left.
She had stayed on that rooftop until the clock chimed 3 am, her wings wrapped around her as she stared out at the city.
She had pondered many things, and almost said her safeword to go back to her reality.
She had found that she didn't miss her old life, not as much as one probably should have.
Yes, she did have her tattoos to remind her of them, and that seemed enough to a girl who had dreamed of magic and superheros.

She awoke on Christmas morning to Steve pounding on her door. Before barging in, Monster in hand.
He thrust it at her with a grin.
"Wha-" She asked, taking it with a bewildered look.
He then scooped her up and out of her bed, carrying her bridal style into the kitchen and setting her down on one of the stools.
Steve placed a plate of bacon, over easy eggs and chocolate chip pancakes in front of her.
"Merry Christmas!" He smiled, sitting down opposite her and digging into his plate.
A confused half smile painted her face as she ate, "Okay, what's this about?"
"What do you mean?" Steve said innocently.
"People don't do shit like this for free-" She pointed an accusing finger at Steve, "especially mischievous little shits from Brooklyn."
He only continued to smile.
"Okay Steve, darlin', you're scaring me." She narrowed her eyes at him, she looked down at her food, "...is this poisoned?"
He rolled his eyes, "Do you really think I'd poison you?"
"I think you've been hanging out with Natasha too much and she is a bad influence- no matter how hot she is."
Steve sighed, "In the forties, men would treat their gals on Christmas to whatever they wanted." The tips of his ears went red, "N-not that you're my gal. Just, we live together, and I thought it would be fun."
Harli remained silent, staring at him.
"...please say something."
She grinned, and hopped off the stool, circling the island to throw her arms around him.
"That sounds like fun, only I said that I'd meet Anyiah for brunch today- maybe after?" She said after seeing Steve's disappointed look.
He perked up at that, "Alright. After. I'll pick you up-"
"At twelve."
"Twelve it is." He smiled. "Have fun."

Anyiah and Harli had been planning this for a while, with both of their schedules being so full- Harli's with S.H.I.E.L.D and superhero work, Anyiah with picking up extra shifts at the diner she worked at.
The winged girl waited anxiously inside the restaurant, her shade power that Circe had taught her firmly in place.
The voices in her head had been strangely quiet, and even when she had called for them in her mind, they remained silent.
