"Hang on." Tony's robotic voice came from inside the suit, then he lifted his arm and fired a small missile at the open flesh.

There was about a second in between the time it was fired and the time it exploded, and that one second was just enough for Harli to shoot up into the air, high enough so she avoided the spray of monster guts.

Her teammates were not as lucky. She floated back down, hovering in the air just above Steve. The cheers of civilians and roars of the aliens all mixed into one large wave of noise. Fen found herself grinning, everyone was battered, bloody and bruised, but they were together. They were home.

Loki looked down on the group of heros, his eyes focused on one person.

He had never hesitated before in his life, but here... here he hesitated.

If he sent the rest of the Chitauri, there was a possibility of his rose getting injured.

If he didn't, then that would mean that the hero's win.

They rivaled each other, but in the end, his need to prove something won over.

"Send the rest." He sneered.

There was a roar above, and Harli looked up, her eyes widening. Two more of the beasts flew through the portals.

"Call it Cap." Tony said, eyes fixed on the portal.

"Alright until we can close the portal we need to focus on containment. Barton I want you on that roof," he pointed to the building, "call out patterns and strays. Stark, you're on perimeter, anything that gets past that block- turn it back or turn it to ash."

"Wanna gimme a lift?" Clint glanced at Tony.

"Might as well, better clench up Legolas." The two flew off.

"Thor, you gotta try to bottleneck that portal, you got the lightning, use it."

The God swung his hammer and flew off, Steve turned to Nat, "You and me stay on the ground. And Hulk," the giant turned to face Steve, a savage grin on his face, "smash." He took off onto a building with a roar.

Steve turned to Harli, "Damage control, keep the beasts occupied, just keep them away from the buildings. Help any civilians, whatever."

She nodded and took off, heading for one of the beasts. It was about to collide with a building when she wrapped her golden chains around it again, pulling its head up and over. Thor was cramping up the portal, so no more of the beasts could come through.

"Got anything for me Barton?" Tony called.

Harli turned and flipped over, holding up a piece of building that had been knocked off by the monster's tail, then setting it safely on the ground.

"Well they can't bank worth a damn-" the sound of exploding monsters, "That help?"

"It does indeed Barton."

Harli followed the monster, redirecting it when it looked like it wanted to crash into buildings.

"Anything else for me?" Clint took a second to look around, then snorted.

"Well, Thor's taking down a squadron on sixth."

"And he didn't invite me?"

"Oh yes, how offensive, what a blow to that massive ego." Fen said sarcastically, weaving in between buildings to shove the monster up and out of the way.

It started to round the corner, headed straight for a building and she dived, hoping to catch it in time. The sound of breaking glass, a roar, and then hulk jumped out of the building, hanging onto the monster's tooth to direct it away.

Y'know what- maybe the big green rage machine isn't that bad. She thought, pausing in the air.

Fen hovered in front of the building, looking in at the workers, "Everyone alright? No injuries?" The office drones shook their heads. "Good, I want you to head to the basement, evacuate by the sewers or subway."

A monster lept at her from the side of a building, but without looking, she shot her hand out and crushed it, throwing it down into the city below.

"Alright then- be safe." And she flew off again.

She tailed the monster, watching as the Hulk drove a piece of its own armor into it, then Thor slammed his hammer against it, electrocuting it.

The beast veered off course, headed for a library. "I swear to the gods if that hits the library I'm not going to be happy." She growled, diving to divert it.

Fen's golden chains wrapped around the beast's head, pulling it with all her might. She was able to push it so it didn't hit the building directly, but it did take out several columns with its huge fin.

She laid it out on the street, careful not to hit any buildings.

Thor watched the girl in awe, a grin spreading itself across his face. Fen whipped around, hearing the building crack. The weight of the overhang was too much for the three pillars that remained, and her eyes widened, pushing herself into a dive.

It cracked and started to fall, but the girl was quicker, her magic holding it up. She groaned, the beast may have been heavier, but at least it flew and was easily directed.

She cast around for the broken pieces of the pillar, spying them by an overturned car. With one hand holding up the building and the other stretched out in front of her, she gathered all the pieces she could, and then shoved them under the building's overhang.

It didn't seem to be on the brink of collapsing anymore, so she let it go slowly.

The building held.

She turned a furious look at the two heros, both of which were staring at her. She landed on the sidewalk next to them, marching towards them. "I swear to fuck- you are lucky that didn't crash through there because I would have murdered you."

Hulk huffed, and Thor's eyebrows scrunched, "Why do you care so much about a building?"

"Because it's a library. And Libraries are awesome." With that she took off, Thor and Hulk glancing at each other.

"What a strange mortal-" Hulk punched him into the side of a building.
