Rey sat next to Ben, holding his hand. Silently she begged the Force to let him live. She could still feel his presence, but his conscious had wandered so far that he didn't answer when she spoke to him through the Force.

She felt the Millennium Falcon land and turned to see Han and Chewie approaching. Han put his hand on her shoulder comfortingly, then gestured for Chewbacca to get Ben. The Wookiee scooped him up into his furry arms and carried him out of the Millennium Falcon with Rey and Han following closely behind.

As Chewbacca walked down the ramp of the Millennium Falcon carrying Ben, Leia stood waiting. She let out a horrified gasp at the sight of her son, wounded.

"How bad is it?" she asked.

Han went over to her and pulled her into a hug. "He'll be fine, he just needs to get to a doctor."

She nodded, but he could see that her hands were shaking. He rubbed her back comfortingly, then they both followed Chewbacca and Rey into the Resistance base.

Chewbacca carried Ben to the medical bay and laid him on one of the beds.

One of the doctors came over to take a look at him. "He'll be fine, but he needs to be put in the bacta tank."

Han nodded.

"Come back tomorrow, he should be conscious by then," the doctor continued.

Han nodded, then he and Rey followed Leia out of the medical bay.

The next day, Rey went to the medical bay at first light.

"How is he?" she asked the doctor.

"He's doing much better," she gestured to where he was laying on a bed nearby.

"May I see him?" Rey asked.

The doctor nodded.

Rey went over to where he was laying and sat down beside him. His eyes were glued shut, but she took his hand. "I'm so sorry Ben."

"It's not your fault," he whispered opening his eyes.

"You're awake?" she exclaimed. "I was so worried about you."

"What happened?" he asked.

"Phasma struck you. I fought her and she fell into a ravine," Rey explained.

He looked at her, surprised. "How were you able to defeat her?"

"I know this going to sound strange, but I heard your grandfather speaking to me. He said that the only way to defeat the darkness was with light, he told me not to fight out of anger or hatred, but to fight for what I loved," she explained. "I know you must think that I'm losing my mind.

"No. Rey, it's the Force. Those who come before us guide us, you just have to know which voices to listen to," Ben replied. "Remember Yoda. He died years ago, but he lives on in the Force, so does my grandfather."

Rey nodded. "Are you okay?"

"Yes," he replied.

She smiled relieved, then kissed his forehead gently.

He smiled at her and pulled her into a warm hug.

Han and Leia came into the medical bay to find them hugging. Leia went over and joined them. "I'm glad to see you awake," she told him.

Ben nodded, hugging his mother.

Han cleared his throat, nervously. "You gave me quite the scare kid."

"Sorry, dad," Ben answered.

"I never really realized how much a father could love his children until I almost lost you," he said. "There were so many things that I regretted not saying. But the most important thing was that I love you very much, son."

Ben hugged him. "I love you too, dad."
