The Resistance fighters had taken Han, Leia, Finn and Poe back to the Resistance base on D'Qar.
General Organa as she was known in the ranks of the Resistance, stood at the head of the table with her husband next to her.
"Our son was taken by the First Order," she told the other Resistance leaders.
A murmur ran through the gathered crowd.
Most of the younger members spoke in concern, with Luke gone Ben was the last remaining Jedi. They needed him to lead them on ground missions and more importantly he was the only one who stood a chance against Phasma, it was usually left up to him to keep her busy and away from the troops during battle. None of them had suitable weapons to duel against a lightsaber and blaster fire could not penetrate her chrome armor.
But most of the veterans, those who had been fighting at Leia's side since the days of the Rebellion were busy exchanging whispered phrases like: "I knew it" and "I told you so," as Leia had finally confirmed that Ben was indeed the son of Han Solo, something she had kept secret since he was born to protect him from the gangs who had taken her husband.
But most of the Resistance members who were old enough to remember Han suspected that Ben was his son. Ben looked more like his mother, but those who knew Han could see him in the young man's smirk and they recognized Han's reckless spirit in him.
"We have to get him back. Until we can find Luke, Ben is our only hope against Snoke," said Leia.
The other Resistance members nodded.
"If he's been taken by the First Order, they will probably bring him to Snoke," said Vise Admiral Holdo.
Leia nodded, she had been thinking the same thing.
"Snoke could use him to find our bases, all of our plans and resources," said Poe. "Even a Force user as strong as Ben wouldn't be able to resist Snoke's mind probe."
"If I catch that snake doing anything of the kind to my son, he'll have another thing coming," said Han.
Leia nodded. "And worse if he is brought before Snoke, I am not sure if he will be able to resist the pull to the Dark Side. Snoke has tormented Ben his whole life, I tried to protect him from Snoke, but he was too powerful."
"I think we should send a small team to get him out," said Admiral Akbar.
Everyone else nodded.
"But how do will we know where he is?" a young Resistance fighter, named Rose asked.
"Were we able to get a track on any of their ships?" Han asked.
"No, sir," Rose's sister, Paige replied.
"I think I know where they went," Finn spoke up. "StarKiller Base."
Everyone turned to look at him.
"I used to be a member of the First Order before I defected," Finn explained.
They all seemed shocked at hearing this, but none of them seemed angry. A few even appeared proud that he had given up his life at the First Order and joined the Resistance. The girl, Rose and her sister Paige were among them.
"I used to be stationed on StarKiller Base," he continued. "It's a superior base, the best the First Order has. Sadly, it is far better than this one. It's an entire planet devoted to the First Order military. I don't know the extent of their plans, I was only a sanitary worker during my time there, but I do know that they're planning something, something big. Some kind of weapon, one that is capable of destroying entire planets."
"Another Death Star," said Admiral Akbar.
"We'll blow it up like we did the last one. Nothing to it," said Han.
Leia gave him the look.
"After we get our son off of it," he corrected thinking that that was what had earned him the look she was giving him. But she didn't stop, Han repeated what he had said in his mind trying to figure out what he had said wrong.
"It wasn't as simple as you think," she said.
"It wasn't?" Han asked.
Leia shook her head. "We had to send in a group of Rebels to steal the plans to the Death Star so that we would know where to hit it in order to destroy it."
"That doesn't sound so bad," said Han.
"None of them survived," Leia went on.
Han looked down, that was bad.
"I suggest that we send in a team to get Ben Solo out of the First Order prison and scout out the base at the same time," said Admiral Akbar.
Everyone nodded.
"Chewie and I will fly the Falcon in," said Han. "Who's coming with us?"
"I'll provide you some cover from my X-wing," Poe volunteered. If their was going to be some action, he didn't want to miss it.
"Me and my sister will come with you," said Paige. "I'm a bomber and my sister is a mechanic, maybe we can find a weakness in their system."
Han nodded. "And I need you to come too, Finn. We'll need someone to show us our way around the base."
Finn nodded in agreement only because he knew that Rey was on the base and he felt bad for leaving her earlier. Deep down he blamed himself for this whole thing, if he hadn't decided to leave, Rey wouldn't have ran off and Ben wouldn't have gotten taken by the First Order. He wanted to make it up to both of them.
"I think that's everyone that we'll need," said Han. Too large of a group would draw too much attention.
Everyone left and began to prepare for the upcoming mission.
Han turned to Leia, pulling her into a tight hug.
"Don't do anything crazy," she told him.
"You know me," Han replied.
"That's exactly why I'm worried," she answered.
Han smiled. "I'll be alright, sweetheart."
She looked at him. "You drive my crazy sometimes."
"I know," he answered. He looked at her for a long moment, he could tell that she was worried about their son. "I promise, I won't come back without our son."
She nodded, then he leaned down to kiss her goodbye.
