THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS flew by rather quickly. Kailani kept herself busy, doing her best to prove to Commander Morrison and Captain Amari that she deserved her spot in Overwatch. They seemed rather fond of her, which made her all the more happy to do her job. While she wasn't exactly thrilled to be stuck on base helping agents train, the new recruits that she was handed proved to be good company. She even trained with Lena several times, and the two of them had gotten pretty close.

The agents of Overwatch were much more welcoming than Blackwatch. They made sure that she was right at home, helping her whenever she needed it, and it wasn't long before she made actual friends out of them. Angela especially was happy to have her, and Kailani was glad to be back in the company of the warm doctor that greeted her when she first arrived at Overwatch all that time ago.

Kailani subconsciously rubbed the shoulder that had been wounded when she was brought to Overwatch as she thought back to the time. It seemed so long ago, and she couldn't even begin to imagine what her life was like before. She was happy, to say the least, though she knew there was a part of her that she left behind in Blackwatch.

There were times where she would think back on her time with Blackwatch, and she would seriously miss it. She missed the dry humor that came from Reyes, the stupid decisions that McCree made on a daily basis, the countless times where Tigress would beat the cowboy in an arm-wrestling contest. And she missed Genji.

Kailani would always make time to visit the medbay whenever McCree would have his weekly checkups with Angela, and she made several visits down to the Blackwatch division every week to see her friend, as well. Whenever she was down there, she would see Genji. Neither of them spoke to each other, and it seemed as though he did his best to ignore her. Most of the time, he would act as though he hadn't even noticed she was there. This hurt her more than she would care to admit, and she worried that their relationship was broken beyond repair.

Pulled from her thoughts by the sound of a yowl of victory, Kailani was suddenly brought back to the training session that she was currently overlooking. She looked across the room, smiling in amusement, as she watched one of the newest recruits, an American girl named Mia, tackled another recruit to the ground. She placed a foot on his chest, grinning wildly as she looked to Kailani for approval.

"Nice job," Kailani called to Mia, suddenly feeling guilty for allowing herself to get distracted from her job. Mia beamed at her praise, taking her foot off of the boy and helping him to his feet. The other recruit was a young boy, barely out of college, from Australia. His name was Lucas, and although he showed promise with his ambition and brains, he was rather clumsy. He had yet to beat Mia in a sparring session. "Lucas, you're really gonna allow yourself to keep being beat by a girl?"

"Give me a break!" Lucas whined good-humoredly. He ran a hand through his sweaty dusty blonde hair. "I gotta go easy on her."

"Yeah, right," Mia retorted with a roll of her eyes.

Kailani liked both of the newest recruits. They were young, though they were both determined and very good listeners. They were learning quickly, and that made Kailani's job a lot easier. "Keep practicing on your own for a bit. I'll spar each of you in thirty minutes. If you impress me, I'll dismiss you for lunch."

Immediately, both Lucas and Mia broke away from each other, moving across the room to begin their individual training. Kailani watched on for a moment, admiring the gracefulness behind Mia's kicks, before she turned away. Sighing, she slipped off the belt of daggers that she wore around her waist and set them on a nearby table. She stared down at the blades, recalling the countless times where they had been covered in the blood of Talon agents, and she shivered.
