"Is that so!? That wonderful, marvellous news! The transfer must be done soon!" Your grandma exclaimed as she took Rai into her grasp, Rai looked at you over your grandma's shoulder, she wore a satisfied grin.
You sat on the engawa slightly irritated by your sisters lie, you did not say anything because of your sister's threats, you were not exactly sure what she was capable of.
"We should start the ceremony immediately, Y/n please go pick the blue spider lily," Your grandma said as she grabbed the stone grinding bowl.
"Okay" You sighed, walking out of the home and towards your mother's grave, the garden was in the back of your home, the garden contains various plants, bushes, trees and the graves of past family members.
The garden was truly beautiful, a small stream came from under your home running through the garden, atop the garden laid a small bridge.
You walked over the bridge, walking through a path of rose bushes and you finally arrived at the graves of your fallen family members. A tombstone laid atop of the grave, your mother's name carved into the stone, L/n Himari and your fathers graved laid next to hers, L/n Haruki.
Your mother was a loud outgoing woman, she never let peoples opinions bring her down, she was the light in the room, she was social, and she was loved by every person she is ever met.
Your father was the complete opposite he was often quiet and took peoples opinions to the heart, he was a wonderful man though, he respected women from top to bottom of his heart, unlike some men.
You knelt beside your mothers grave, you scooped the flowers into your hands placing the flower on a small white cloth, your grandma had given to you previously. You wrapped the flower in the small cloth, proceeding to walk through the garden making your way back inside.
"Here" You whispered, handing the flower to your grandma "Thank you, dear," Your grandma said, giving you a gentle smile "I suppose I'll prepare the tea now" Your grandma mumbled, seeming somewhat hesitant.
-----------------------------------------
"You seem hesitant, what the matter?" You asked, kneeling next to your grand watching her crush the flower in the stone grinder. "I really believed it was going to be you to inherit the flower, I love your sister dearly.
I just... Her heart seems to be tainted; I do not believe she should be the one to inherit the flower if it were my choice, I would have chosen you, but it isn't my choice" Your grandma said with a sigh as she boiled the water.
"Grandma I... I" You mumbled out only to have your sister words flood in your mind
"Huh, how is she going to tell the difference, she is a crazy old hag and besides just if the mark resembles a flower-like shape. And we do not need someone as pathetic as yourself becoming the next keeper, so think of it as me doing you and the flower a favour" Rai said, adding the finishing touches to the 'mark'.
'No Rai is right; I am frail and weak. I shouldn't say anything' You thought "Never mind" You mumbled "ah, alright" Your grandma replied.
"It's finished" Your grandma mumbled, pouring the crushed lily into a cup and you poured the boiling water from the teapot into the same cup.
"I'll go get Rai" You muttered as you kneeled up making your way out of the house, you walked out of your home and into the forest. You walked into and through the forest that surrounded your home, a crunching noise was heard under every step you took, crunching leaf's and snapping twigs.
You soon found Rai sitting on a tree branch "Rai" You called out "Huh, oh it's you" Rai mumbled, "Grandma says it's time" You said, looking up at your sister "Finally" Rai muttered, jumping down from the branch as she began to walk.
You stumbled catching up to her "You know when I inherit the flower I'm heading straight to the village, and I'll heal people" Rai said with a proud grin "Isn't that dangerous?" You ask, looking at her.
"So, what if it's dangerous, think of all the money, fame and praising I'll receive and I'll be respected" Rai muttered "I see" You whispered, lowering your head.
"Will you heal grandma at least? Her bones are weakening she can barely walk nowadays" You ask "Tch, why would I waste the flower's ability on a hold geezer like her. She'll die soon anyway" Rai replied.
----------------------------------
Rai, your grandma and you, the three of you sat on the engawa you and your grandma sat side by side, while Rai sat in front of the two of you.
"So, all I have to do is drink the tea? It doesn't smell very pleasant" Rai muttered, sniffing the tea once again "Yes, all you have to do is drink the tea and by morning the flower's transition into your body will be complete" Your grandma replied.
"Kay" Rai muttered, the cup getting closer and closer to her lips every passing second, you began to sweat and fidget your fingers 'It suddenly got really hot, I'm sweating like crazy' You thought, opening your eyes and glancing over to your grandma 'She's not sweating' you thought.
"I really believed it was going to be you to inherit the flower, I love your sister dearly. I just... Her heart seems to be tainted; I do not believe she should be the one to inherit the flower if it was my choice, I would have chosen you, but it isn't my choice" Your grandma said with a sigh as she boiled the water.
'Why are those conversations flooding into my mind now, why is everything going by so slowly'.
Rai has not drunk the tea yet nor has she taken a sip... I am sweating so much, my body is tingling, it hurts' You thought, clenching your fist. "Rai... w... wait.... ah... ah... nnghg" You mumbled out, falling onto your side "Y/n!".
'My body hurts... why it hurts to breathe... my chest feels tight' you thought as your eyelids began to shake 'my eyes feel so heavy' you thought, clenching your chest. You laid there unable to move as your grandma undid your kimono looking for any injuries or perhaps a mark. A few moments had passed, and she finally found what she was looking for, the mark.
A stream of blue spider lilies started on your chest, extending down to your arms, legs, around your waist and up your neck.
Your grandma felt relieved that you were the one to receive the mark, she was confused as well as to why Rai has the mark... Unless it is fake? "Rai give me your leg, show me your mark this instant" Your grandma snarled, and Rai compiled bringing her leg out to your grandma.
Your grandma spit on her hand and rubbed the mark, only for it to smear. "It's fake? Why would you lie, you could have died! This is so stupid of you, I thought you were smarter than this! You should know better!" Your grandma yelled.
"Shut up old hag! You have no right to yell at me, your nothing but a pathetic wrinkled piece of shit!" Rai yelled, bringing her fist to your grandma's face and running off into the trees.
You laid there watching helplessly as your older sister ran away, you wanted to apologize, to stop her from running.
The sun was nearly setting and knowing Rai she would have taken off to the village, the nearest village, the village known for mangled bodies to appear every night. Because in that village demons roamed the night in that village like it was their own castle.
