The next morning, as soon as the Sun rose, the Resistance's base was already in turmoil. Everyone was finishing charging the various ships so they could join the new Capital as quickly as possible, while the new Fleet of the Republic was waiting above Takodana.

Bango and Nodin were already aboard the all new Cruiser of the Resistance and Poe was busy supervising the preparation on the ground. He didn't come back near Ly'ra the night before and a part of him was feeling terribly guilty about it. He was furious, anxious and terrified in the same time. And he didn't know how to react anymore.

"General? General...? Poe?"

Suddenly coming back to his duties, the pilot looked up at Cane who offered his friend a friendly smile.

"You okay buddy?"

"Yeah... Yeah I'm fine. Night was short that's all."

The Zabrak arched a brow, slightly amused and nodded towards the South tarmac.

"I believe it was short for someone else..."

Following his gaze, Dameron quickly noticed Ly'ra who was finishing charging her Fighter, helped by Chewbacca. She obviously looked tired and even from there, he could see that her eyes were red. And something was telling him it was not because of her powers.

"Do you think I'm overreacting? That I'm protecting her too much?"

Cane took a minute to choose his words wisely. He took a deep breath and ended turning his eyes on his superior and friend.

"I think you love her and you worry for her. But I do believe too that you guys have serious communication problems. And that, even if you love each other, you don't know each other that much. And you both need to work on that. And to finish, I believe that you should trust yourself and find a way to ask advice to someone you would listen to..."

Poe frowned, turning to face the Zabrak.

"Who?"

His friend glanced at him, looking insulted.

"But Leïa of course! Are you serious mate? I wonder if you're living in the same world as me sometimes..."

As he turned back towards his ship, Poe tried to call him back, in vain.

"Hey wait! But I... I don't know... How to do that... Seriously Dameron, it's so easy! Talking with the deads. Nothing difficult! For the Jedis maybe! But you guys all seem to forget that I'm not a Jedi!!"

Suddenly realising that his little discourse had drawed the attention of several members of the Resistance around, Poe cleared his throat and ordered:

"What are you waiting for? Go back to work!"

Luckily for him, the following minutes were too intense for anyone to make the slight remark on his outburst. Once everyone had evacuated the planet, he glanced at Ly'ra's black X-Wing as it took off, followed close behind by the Falcon, piloted by Rey, and he then jumped into his own Fighter to join the fleet.

Once aboard, the General took the command and made sure no one was missing before giving the order to leave Takodana. It had been years since he last went on Coruscant, and they had to travel for a week before they could reach the Capitale. A lot of ships didn't have a propulsion system powerful enough to pass into Lightspeed, which would accentuate their time travel.

On the main deck, once the fleet was heading to the Capitale, Poe couldn't help but checking what Ly'ra was doing through the control screens. He knew he was overprotecting her, but he couldn't calm his stress down. He found her on the charging docks, as she was keeping an eye on the Resistance's members settling. A slight sigh escaped his lips and after few more seconds, he went back to work, realising only now the importance of the work Leïa had to do when she was the head of the Resistance.
