Haru and Iruka stepped out of the hospital and into the sunlight, holding hands. Iruka stayed close to her.
"Are you okay, Haru?"
He watched her take a deep breath.
"I am. I feel a lot better."
"Mizuka did say that the human body is resilient."
They walked on in silence. The silence wasn't bad; it was just heavy. Iruka knew that she had a lot on her mind. He did, too. But his thoughts would have to wait.
"Iruka, where would I get a vibrator?"
He couldn't help but smile.
"The best place to get that would be The Kat's Meow. Kakashi said it's the best sex shop in the village, and he would probably know. I've been there a few times in the past, when he dragged me there."
"Could we go there soon?"
He gave her hand a squeeze; she really was taking what Mizuka said to heart.
"How about we go tomorrow night after I take you out to dinner?"
She turned to him, looking a little surprised.
"We're going out to dinner?"
"Of course we are. Tomorrow is your birthday after all, isn't it?"
She put a shocked hand over her mouth.
"Oh my... tomorrow is my birthday isn't it? I completely forgot."
So, after work, let me take you out to a nice dinner and we can go to the sex shop and I'll get you whatever you want."
Soon, they were home. After Iruka shut the door, Haru pinned him against the shut door once again, something she often did, kissing him slowly and passionately. Even though they didn't have sex, their lives were still full of passion, especially behind closed doors. Her fingertips slid under her shirt slowly, sending chills up his spine. Their passion looked different... because it had to. But, it was passionate nonetheless.
He whispered into her ear.
"Are you sure you're okay? That was a lot today; it's okay not to be okay."
"I'm okay. It was a lot to process. Are you okay?"
"I guess so? You were the one who was on the exam table. I don't have a reason not to be."
"You're going through this with me."
She took his hand and led him to the couch, sitting down next to him. He looked at her tenderly.
"I know that a lot happened to you, but it's still hard to hear the stories. They... They tried to take everything from you. And you were so young..."
"I know, but they didn't. Mizuka said everything is pink and healthy. I can hardly believe it. This past year has been so good for me. And it's because of you."
Iruka smiled at her warmly, taking her hand in his, their fingers entwining as she gazed at their hands, continuing.
"I'm healthy, Iruka. I just... I can't believe it. I spent years raw and bleeding from between my legs and everywhere else, and I pissed blood for years, but I'm healing. Sorry, I don't mean to keep talking about it."
"I want you to keep talking about it I love that you're recovering and I love that you're so excited about it."
She scooted up to him closer.
"I'm also a little intrigued that you brought up the possibility of having a baby. Not that you want one, but hearing you say those words felt strange."
