Iruka laid next to Haru, breathing heavily. He had finally found it: the connection to another person that he had so desperately sought.
Haru was nestled into his shoulder, her hand over his pounding heart. He nuzzled his cheek into her deep red hair.
"Haru? Are you okay?"
She didn't answer; he panicked.
"Haru?"
"Huh? Wha?"
She looked up at him with sleep filled eyes; she had fallen asleep. She grinned at him sleepily.
"I'm sorry I fell asleep. That was the most intense orgasm I've ever had. That, and your scent... you are so calming, and your arms around me...I guess I fell asleep."
He laughed, cradling her cheek in his palm and giving her a small kiss.
"I'll take that as the highest compliment."
"You make me feel so safe and at ease. I had no idea that another person could make me feel this way. I've never experienced anything like that."
She leaned up, kissing him tenderly as thunder cracked overhead. Iruka pulled the blanket over the both of them. Even with the thunderstorm, this was the best Star Festival ever.
She nestled back into the crook of his arm and quickly fell back to sleep. Iruka was still too excited from what had just happened to fall asleep with her, so he watched over her as he became lost in thought. Haru had grown so much as a person this past year. She had gone from a shell of a person to a sunny, hopeful woman. And she loved him, and some days he couldn't wrap his head around that. How could someone with such a beautiful heart love him, the Principal of the Ninja Academy? A schoolteacher who was ten years older than her? But, he could feel the love radiating from her.
He was so pleased that she felt comfortable enough with him to fall asleep after such an intimate moment; the most intimate thing two people could experience together. If he hadn't known her so well, he would've had no idea that her past was so brutal. Right now, she was just a normal, beautiful woman in his bed, who happened to be the love of his life. The woman who made him feel complete.
BOOM!
Another crack of thunder crashed overhead as lightning blinded the room for a split second. However, she continued to sleep peacefully, cuddled against him. She didn't even stir.

Iruka awoke in the morning, warm and sleepy. The room felt cold outside of the blankets between the air conditioner and the rain still plinking on the glass.
"Good morn-"
Turning to greet Haru, he found that her side of the bed was empty. He could feel his heart drop into his stomach. He scrambled from the bed, panicking until he spotted the light on under the bathroom door.
He opened the door gently to find her laying in the bath; her eyes were closed and she appeared to be sleeping.
"Haru?"
She opened her eyes sleepily.
"Huh? Oh, I'm sorry. I was cold and I couldn't get warmed up so I came here to soak in the warm water. I guess I fell asleep."
She smiled at him sleepily before she shivered. Iruka knelt down and stuck his hand into the now chilly water, pulling the stopper from the bottom.
"Would you mind if I join you?"
She yawned as the water slowly drained around her.
"Please do."
He replaced the stopper, turning the warm water back on and stepped in next to her, settling down. She scooted into his lap and laid back. She turned and kissed his chin, the only thing she could reach. He had an incredible view of her breasts: they weren't especially large, but they were perky and refined. Her nipples were perfect: the most amazing shade of pinkish-brown. He imagined wrapping his lips around-
"Ooh."
Haru laughed and moved around a little.
"You're poking me."
"Oh shit. Sorry."
He didn't realize how rock hard he was, and he was rubbing against the small of her back. Rearranging himself, he tried to either shrink or stop poking her in the back.
"I don't mind, I'm actually flattered. My body is pretty scarred up."
He leaned forward and kissed her cheek.
"So is mine; does that bother you?"
She reached up and placed a hand gently on his cheek.
"I love your scars, especially the one across the bridge of your nose. You're a shinobi and your scars are part of your past. They're beautiful."
"Your scars are part of your past. They're beautiful. You're my warrior; you've spent your life trying to survive."
She nuzzled her cheek into his chest.
"But, you don't need to do that anymore. I'm here for you, Haru."
