They finished their drinks and left, Haru lookng warmer and more comfortablei than before. He just wanted to treat her well; she absolutely needed it. She needed someone to spoil her a littlbit, and he was more than happy to have someone around to spoil.
He pulled the red umbrella back out and opened it over their heads. She looked up, apparently a little surprised by his gesture.
"Thank you..."
"It's no problem.
"Anko has a blood disorder?"
"She did, but she was cured a few years ago by Mizuka. She used to be terribly frail and skinny. She looks a lot better than she used to."
Haru frowned at the thought of her own thin, frail body.
"Of course, Anko has always looked good. No one should be judged by the way they look. I just worried about her health. She was practically dying of malnutrition."
She looked over at him, grinning slyly.
"Are you going to fatten me up as well?"
He turned an embarrassed shade of red.
"O-Of course not..."
She laughed.
"I'm joking. Relax."
She nudged him playfully. He chuckled.
He had done it before, but she didn;t say anything. She instead walked half under the umbrella, keeping a little distance between the two of them. The night was dark and rainy: the perfect night to walk home through the park. They were alone with only the lamps on to light their way.
As they walked slowly through the park, Iruka quickly realized that there were others there with them: there was shouting over at the lake. Haru suddenly clung onto Iruka's arm fearfully.
"Oh, no..."
But, to Iruka, it didn't seem like screams of fear or pain.
"Watch! This one's bigger and I can skip it even further!"
"Oh yeah? Watch this!"
"No! No! KAKASHI! NO!"
And then, a huge splash followed by a figure running down the path toward them, dodging them and laughing.
"Hey!"
"Hey, Kakashi."
"COME BACK, YOU JERK!"
Mizuka came barreling after him, soaking wet. Before Kakashi was out of their sight, Mizuka had breezed past them and had caught up to her husband, flying through the air with one powerful jump and tackling him to the ground. He felt Haru grip his arm tightly; apparently under the impression that she was about to witness a murder. Iruka turned to her, speaking reassuringly.
"They're just playing, see?"
They turned back to see Mizuka pinning Kakashi to the ground by his chest, kissing him.
"Come on, Haru, let's get home and out of this rain."
Iruka could see that she was shaking, but it wasn't because of the rain. She was going to have a long recovery in front of her. Even the slightest out of the ordinary sound appeared to throw her into a spiral.
On the way home, she wouldn't walk anywhere near him, instead choosing to walk out in the rain. After a moment, he reached out with the umbrella, covering her instead of himself. She seemed a little surprised, but kept moving, her arms wrapped around her self protectively. She was clearly crying, even though she was thoroughly soaked with rain.
