As Mr Im entered the class again, the students settled down. He took out his laptop and then set it down, and placed the plate of cake aside.
"Oh. I reckon this a lemon cake?" Mr Im asked. Miya nodded.
"Thank you. I shall have this as soon as I reach the staff room," Mr Im said before opening the laptop cover, prompting the class to take out their notebooks and some students, iPads.
Earlier, Seeun received a text from the director— the man who recruited them— to meet him at the building after school. So, carrying their bags, they made their way to the building by car. After she had parked the car at the building's basement carpark, the girls walked to the private lift lobby that would take them directly to the agent's offices and meeting rooms, unlike the public lift. The private lift lobby had glass as its four walls and spotlights, the lifts at the centre of the room. As the girls walked to the lift lobby door, the glass door automatically slid open, and they went in. Sieun tapped her card on the reader, and it beeped, the lift doors opening. They entered the lift, and Yoon keyed in the level of the meeting room they were going to, and soon, they were going higher and higher to the 64th floor. When they exited the lift and went into the meeting room, the director was waiting for them already. They sat on the chairs, and he started.
"Your mission is to protect an asset. That asset is a daughter of a boss who eliminates crime organisations and is from the same school. He was a boss. Since he is getting older, he has retired from the profession. But the thing is, he still has enemies that are still seeking revenge. So, to prevent the enemies from breaking into the school and kidnapping her, he wants you to protect her. I also will be tasking you all to take down one of the organisations." The man said.
"How can they break in? There's security everywhere," Yoon asked.
"To them, those securities are like tiny walls they can step over. They are strong. So to prepare you for this, here are some weapons for you. You will have to bring it to school every day," The man said, and he passed a bag of weapons.
While Isa was driving back to their dorm, she glanced at the rear mirror and saw Seeun deep in thought.
"A penny for your thoughts?" Yeeun asked.
"Who's the asset?"
That question made everyone go dead silent. Seeun pursed her lips. "So that means...we have to find that out," Yeeun sighed. "Let's go home first. Today was a long day," Isa said. The gates of their condominium apartment carpark opened, and Isa drove in and parked the car there. They took the lift to the 34th storey, which was their apartment. They entered their unit and started washing up and packing things up for the next day. After that, they went to bed in their three respective rooms.
"So, who do you think the asset is?" Sieun asked Yoon, who was on the bottom bunk. "Dunno. We gotta find out who it is," Yoon said. "It's a she, so that narrows down," Sumin said from her and Isa's room— across the hallway.
"Are we that loud?"
"Yes, you two are."
"Fine. Good night then,"
"Good night."
"G'nite."
The next day, they woke up and did their usual morning routine. They went to take a weapon each. Every girl took a gun, but Sumin and Yoon took another one, while Isa took an extra dagger.
The school bell rang, signalling the start of lunch break. The six girls made their way to the cafeteria. When they arrived, they parted ways to their favourite stalls. Yeeun was the only one who went to the Chinese cuisine stall, and when she looked back to find her other sisters, she could only see a wave of people around her. She tiptoed to peek at the menu for the food of the day. Her mood instantly lifted, and she got back on her heels. Footsteps were heard, and the last thing she felt before she was knocked off balance was a shove. She thought she was close to falling until someone supported her.
"Yeeun, are you okay?" Isa said, dusting non-existent dust off the former's shoulders. Yeeun nodded, and Isa heaved a sigh of relief, patted her shoulders and walked back to her seat. When Yeeun finished getting her food, she walked to the girls' table and set her food down before tucking it. While tucking in, they talked about how the school's homeroom teachers were arranged unusually and how their timetable was nearly the same except for some tweaking here and there. Their Physical Education class were still after lunch breaks, just like last year.
"Netball time!" Yeeun exclaimed. The girls, with some of their classmates, skipped to the indoor sports hall. When they arrived, they saw Aisha and Cheng Xiao, the former's best friend, with their classmates. "HI AISHA!" Isa shouted to the other side of the hall, and Aisha waved back.
"WHY ARE YOU HERE?" Isa asked.
"I'M HERE FOR PE!" Aisha replied.
"ME TOO!" Isa shouted back. Both classes gathered at the field, and their respective teachers arrived.
"Today, we will be playing Netball with Class 3-1," the six girls' teacher said. The girls' classmates and the formers exchanged smirks.
