"trust no one but your circle."
it didn't sound like a good idea for six young, not-so-experienced high schoolers to take up a dangerous, life-costing and major mission.
Isa turned off the lights installed in the stove hood, hung the washed dishes on the drying rack and went to her room. She checked her phone.
19 30 hours, 30 minutes to prepare.
She was going to meet her brother to hang out and have some supper somewhere, and the reason the venue is still somewhere; they still haven't decided on a place to go. Maybe, later on, they would discuss it anyway. Isa went to take a shower and wore some casual clothes, which consisted of one oversized navy-blue coloured sweatshirt with wide-leg jeans and a beanie. Isa picked out a pair of run star hike converses and her messenger bag. She got the necessities and went out of the room. The other five girls were watching Vivo from Netflix; their heads were stuck towards the television screen. Isa sat beside them and waited for Heeseung to message her. As she watched Gabi butchering her uncle's song and the monkey named Vivo calling it a "musical massacre", her phone vibrated.
"I guess it's my sign to go down now, bye guys," Isa waved to them, and they waved back as well. She went out of the apartment and briskly made her way to the carpark basement. She went into the lift and pressed "16". The lift descended from the 34th floor before opening its doors to the level where she had to exchange lift zones.
This is how it works: The second lift she took would start from B2 and stop at level 16, and the elevator she frequently took would get her from level 1, skip levels 2 to 15, and then continue to 50.
She walked to the zone where Heeseung's car was parked and saw a familiar-looking Mercedes. She briskly walked to the car again and opened the door of the shotgun seat.
"Yo. I did not expect you to come down here that fast," He said, closing the driver seat door and starting the engine. Heeseung wore a navy blue t-shirt with a long-sleeved white shirt underneath. "What are you- oh my goodness, why do we always match our styles...?" Isa questioned, and he shrugged. She slapped his shoulder. "And what are you trying to imply, Hee? I don't take my own sweet time to dress up."
"You do."
"I DON'T! You are the one that takes time to dress up, bitch. Anyway, where are we going to hang out and have supper?"
"...my place?" Heeseung said, earning a stare from Isa.
"That's it. Get out of the driver's seat. I'm driving this time." Isa opened the car door, ready to push Heeseung out of the seat.
"Just kidding," he said, and Isa closed the door, "but why were you reacting like that?"
"The last time I came to your place, it did not turn out well. It was so freaking messy, and awkward...Your friends can come to our house instead. As in the girls and my house," Isa replied, buckling her seatbelt as her brother drove out of the carpark.
"So, how's university life?" Isa asked her older brother, who glanced at the side mirror before switching lanes.
"It's okay. At least I'm with Sunghoon," he replied, switching off the turning signal. They sat in comfortable silence until they arrived at the mall. They went shopping for some clothes first.
"Wait, isn't this the graphic shirt Yeeun wanted in Japan?" Isa mumbled, recalling the Kenzo shirt Asahi bought. She took the shirt and placed it in the cart.
"Do I look good?" Heeseung walked out of the fitting room with a plaid flannel shirt.
"Very much," Isa replied without looking, earning a glare from Heeseung.
"Of course, you're my brother, the ace," Isa replied, rolling her eyes. She walked towards him and fixed his shirt gingerly before turning him around to face the mirror. "See? Wear this with the beanie you usually wear, and it'll be great." Isa patted his shoulders and walked to get her cart. She picked up a cropped buttoned blouse. "Will it go together with the trousers?" She murmured, retrieving the cream-coloured pants she picked and checking them by the mirror near her. When she was only satisfied with the look, she placed it into her cart. They went to check out and went to McDonald's. Well, at least it was better than ramyeon(joking! I love ramyeon too).
While Heeseung ordered, Isa sat on the seats available and placed her bags to her right. Heeseung arrived with their orders, and they started eating the burgers.
"Aaaaa," Isa said, and Heeseung opened his mouth wide to eat the french fry she was sending to his mouth, but she changed directions and sent it to her mouth instead.
"Why do I always fall for this trick, argh," Heeseung sighed, earning him a giggle from her. Heeseung took his coke and drank it.
"And in the end, Yeeun scared Jaehyuk out of the living daylights instead of us five," Isa said, giggling, and Heeseung smiled wistfully. "I miss those days when I was carefree, you know? Instead of back-to-back revision for exams and all." Isa moved towards her older brother and patted his shoulders. "When you were a teenager, a child, you wanted to be an adult, to be more mature. But sometimes, you might miss being a child, so why not just appreciate the present before you start working? You'll miss your uni days. The present is called a gift for a reason. And you still have Jungwon, so..." Isa tailed off. Heeseung chuckled and ruffled her hair. "That's my wise younger sister." Isa grinned, her smile as wide as it could be. "I'll try to appreciate the present so I can grow older without any regrets."

They were back in the car, driving towards Isa's apartment complex. Heeseung shifted the gear stick to exit the highway. Isa looked out the car window. "What about next year? How do I choose the subjects I want to major in?"
"Don't worry about next year. I'll help you with that, okay? As you said, I hope you'll appreciate the things around you. You still have some time before university comes into your life, okay?" Heeseung said, and Isa nodded as he drove into the apartment complex.
"Well, this hang-out might sound boring for the readers. I guess this is how we hang out," Isa grinned cheekily.
"For what?" He glanced at the side mirror and steered the car to the drop-off point.
"Nothing." Isa hugged him goodbye and exited the car. She entered the lift lobby and watched her brother's car slowly become smaller as he drove out of the carpark. The lift gave a soft ding, and its door opened, prompting Isa to enter. Once she pressed "34", the elevator ascended and reached the level within minutes.
As she took off her shoes and entered the apartment, she saw the girls watching another movie. She took the shopping bag and passed Yeeun the graphic shirt.
"You found this? Thanks, Isa! I thought you wouldn't find these here," Yeeun exclaimed, flashing a megawatt smile. Isa patted Yeeun's shoulder and walked into her room to change.
