LISA'S POV
It was already 2:30 in the afternoon, and I had just finished getting ready. I stood in front of my mirror one last time, checking every detail. I wore a simple but elegant black tight dress that hugged my figure in just the right way.
It was also an off-shoulder dress, showing just a hint of skin but still looking classy. The fabric stopped right above my knees, giving me enough freedom to walk without feeling too exposed.
I had curled my hair into soft waves that fell gracefully past my shoulders, and I added just a touch of light makeup something natural, since I barely ever wore any. A little blush, some gloss, and eyeliner to make my eyes stand out.
I slipped on a pair of black heels, not too high so I could still walk comfortably, and grabbed a small white purse to finish the look.
By the time I checked the clock again, it was already 3:10. Jennie was late. Typical Jennie.
I heard a loud honk outside my house, which immediately told me she was finally here. I rushed out the front door and froze for a moment when I saw her.
Jennie was leaning casually against her luxurious car, dressed in a sharp, tailored girl's suit that made her look like she owned the world. She had sunglasses on and a serious expression on her face that could intimidate anyone.
She looked like she had just walked out of a magazine cover.
My heart skipped a beat.
I walked up to her slowly, and without saying a word, she opened the car door for me like a proper gentleman.
I slid inside, trying to calm the butterflies in my stomach. Jennie got into the driver's seat, adjusted her sunglasses, and started the car.
"You're late," I said, crossing my arms, trying to sound annoyed even though I was just glad to see her.
She smirked without even looking at me.
"There was traffic, Lili."
We arrived at a completely different building, one I had never been to before. It was tall, sleek, and intimidating, with glass windows that reflected the city.
Inside, everything looked so professional, men and women in suits, people with clipboards, phones ringing nonstop. I felt out of place in my simple dress, clutching my little purse nervously.
Jennie walked confidently ahead of me, her heels clicking against the marble floor. Everyone seemed to step aside when she passed, bowing their heads slightly.
I followed behind her quietly until we entered a large conference room.
The moment Jennie stepped in, everyone inside stood up instantly, almost like soldiers saluting their commander. Jennie didn't even acknowledge them. She simply walked to the front, sat down in the big chair meant for her, and only then did everyone else sit.
I stayed in the back corner, unsure of why I was even here.
My job was to be her intern, right? So why was I standing awkwardly while she handled high-level business deals?
Hours passed, and the meeting finally wrapped up. I had been watching Jennie the entire time. She was cold, commanding, and, honestly... a little scary.
She didn't hesitate to cut people off or dismiss ideas that didn't impress her. Jennie was mean in that conference room but then again, Jennie was always mean to people. That was her power.
"Ms. Kim!" I heard someone call out loudly.
Jennie turned her head. "Hello, Mr. Ross," she said smoothly.
