JENNIE'S POV
I don't know what's happening to me, but without even thinking, I just leaned toward Lisa, wanting to kiss her.
"Jennie, stop," she whispered firmly, and I immediately felt her pushing me back.
My heart sank.
"Oh... sorry," I muttered, my eyes dropping to the floor, my voice quiet and filled with regret.
The plane finally landed, and Lisa was quick to stand up. She immediately went over to wake Rosé and Jisoo, keeping her distance from me like she wanted to avoid another moment.
I sighed deeply and stood up too, gently shaking Taehyung awake.
I'm still in a relationship with him. Sadly. Yes, SADLY. It almost feels like a burden now, but I can't let him see that.
We all got off the plane and headed toward the limousine waiting for us. It was sleek, black, and elegant, the kind of car that screamed importance.
It took us straight to our hotel, which was nothing short of breathtaking, fancy, luxurious, the type of place you only ever see in magazines.
We checked in, and soon we were in our shared suite. It was massive, with more than enough space for all of us. We started unpacking our things in silence, though the air felt heavy with unspoken words.
My stomach grumbled softly, I was hungry.
"Hey guys, wanna grab dinner?" I asked, trying to lighten the mood.
"I would love to, but I have this meeting in an hour," Jisoo groaned, already pulling out her laptop.
"My family is in California, so I kinda want to visit them while we're here," Rosé said with a smile.
"I'll go. I'm kinda hungry," Lisa said simply.
"Oh! I remember! I reserved us a table at a fancy restaurant!" Taehyung suddenly yelled with excitement, like he had just saved the day.
"Alright, I guess we could go there," I said, grabbing my jacket.
But when I turned around, my chest tightened. I saw Lisa hugging Rosé goodbye. And deep down, I felt that familiar sting of jealousy rising again.
My jaw clenched, and I swallowed hard.
We arrived at the restaurant, and instantly I realized it wasn't just a restaurant, it was more like a date spot.
The tables were small, intimate, only two seats each, with candles flickering between wine glasses. Couples surrounded us everywhere.
"Let's sit right here," Taehyung said, pointing proudly at a cozy table for two.
I forced a smile, but when I turned my head, I spotted Lisa sitting alone in the corner. She looked small, almost uncomfortable, her eyes darting around.
My heart ached seeing her by herself. I sighed quietly, torn between what I had and what I wanted.
LISA'S POV
I would rather go to the meeting with Jisoo than sit here. Honestly, this is so awkward.
The waiter came, and I quickly ordered my food just to get it over with. Sitting at this table alone made me feel completely out of place.
People were staring, and the longer I sat there, the more I wanted to disappear.
Shortly after, my water arrived. I lifted the glass to my lips, trying to act natural, when I noticed movement from the corner of my eye.
Taehyung stood up and walked away, heading toward the restroom.
And then Jennie stood up.
Before I could even process, she was already walking over and sitting down right in front of me.
I froze.
"Where's Taehyung?" I asked, trying to sound casual, my voice coming out a little shaky.
"Restroom," she said shortly, her eyes locked on mine.
"Why are you sitting here? Hurry and go back to your table. Taehyung can come back any minute now."
"Then, let me just stare at you... just for a minute." She smiled softly, the kind of smile that melted me no matter how much I wanted to resist.
"We had a staring contest on the plane," I chuckled nervously, trying to brush it off.
"So what? Let me just stare at you. I remember missing you while you were gone. Let me enjoy this moment."
Her words hit me straight in the heart. I swallowed hard, looking away.
"You're paying since I won that staring contest," she smirked, and I rolled my eyes playfully, though my chest was pounding.
Minutes passed. She just sat there, staring at me, her gaze unwavering. I grew uncomfortable under the intensity, shifting in my seat and coughing before taking a sip of my water.
When I glanced up again, my breath caught in my throat.
Taehyung was coming back.
"Jennie, Taehyung is coming ba—" I whispered urgently, but before I could finish, she leaned across the table and pressed a quick kiss to my cheek.
My eyes widened in shock.
She pulled back instantly, giggling softly, and then hurried back to her table just as Taehyung returned, completely unaware.
My food finally came, and I ate quickly, though my mind was racing with what just happened.
When I finished, I walked to the counter to pay.
"I'm ready to pay for me and that lady's food over there," I said, pointing at Jennie's table.
The cashier smiled politely. "That will be $340."
I gulped. My wallet already hurt. This is what I get for coming to a fancy restaurant.
"Oh wait..." the cashier blinked at the screen.
"Someone already paid it."
My eyebrows furrowed. "Who?"
"Jennie Kim."
I turned around, and sure enough, she was looking at me with that same soft smile.
Something in me cracked. Despite everything, I smiled back before walking outside to wait for the limousine.
When it pulled up, I climbed inside, sinking into the seat and exhaling.
A few minutes later, Jennie and Taehyung entered. But even with him sitting right there beside her, Jennie couldn't stop looking at me the entire ride back.
I sighed and turned my head toward the window, pretending I didn't notice.
But inside, my heart was racing.
