4 YEARS LATER

LISA'S POV

"Lisa!!" my boss, Kim Jisoo, called for me. Her voice echoed down the hallway, pulling me out of my thoughts.

I quickly stood up from my little desk, brushed off my skirt, and walked to her office.

I stepped inside and stood properly in front of her desk. "Yes, Ms. Kim Jisoo?" I asked politely.

She immediately laughed, waving her hand at me. "How many times do I have to tell you? Call me Jisoo."

"Oh! I forgot," I chuckled, scratching the back of my neck awkwardly.

"Anyways," she said, shuffling through a few papers, "I need you to present my presentation for someone."

"Okay, but why can't you do it?" I tilted my head, half laughing.

"Because I have a meeting on that same day, plus I'm sick of presenting. I need a break!" she groaned dramatically, slouching in her chair.

"Fine, fine, I'll do it for you," I rolled my eyes playfully.

"Great! I'll set you the appointment," she smiled brightly, clearly relieved.

"When is it?" I asked, finally sitting down in the chair across from her desk.

"Tomorrow at 7 a.m.," she answered casually.

I immediately groaned. "That's so early!" I pouted, crossing my arms like a child.

"Sorry, boo," she chuckled at my reaction.

"Who am I even presenting to?" I asked, leaning forward.

"Ms. Jennie Kim at the Kim. Inc building," she said.

I froze. My breath caught in my throat. "W-What?" I coughed, trying to act casual but failing miserably.

"Ms. Jennie Kim," she repeated, not noticing my expression.

"Oh... okay," I whispered, my heart suddenly racing.

"Cool," she said simply, then glanced back at her computer.

"I can leave now, right?" I asked quickly, wanting to get out of the room before she noticed how shaken I was.

She nodded, and I left her office, my heels clicking against the floor. I went back to my little desk and slumped down, sighing heavily.

Jennie.

I was going to see her again tomorrow.

It's been four years since I last saw her. Four long, painful years.

I had just graduated from college six months ago, and now I was an intern for Jisoo. It was supposed to be a fresh start, but now... now I was about to face the one person I thought I'd never see again.

My nerves started eating at me.

Does she still remember me?

Did she change?

Is she still small like before?

Or... is she even colder now?

I groaned and buried my head into my desk, pulling my hair in frustration.

"Woah, you good?" a familiar voice asked.

I lifted my head and saw Bambam, another intern and a good friend of mine, standing there with his usual playful grin.

"Yeah, I'm just not feeling well," I said, forcing a smile.

He nodded. "Wanna grab breakfast tomorrow?" he asked hopefully.

"Sorry, I can't. I have to present something for Ms. Jennie Kim," I said.

His eyes widened, and he gasped dramatically. "Ms. Kim?" he whispered like it was a forbidden name.

I nodded slowly.

"Isn't she the most successful CEO in the world right now?" he asked, clearly impressed.

I nodded again.

"I heard she's mean and cold-hearted these days," he laughed nervously.

"Yeah..." I replied softly, my chest tightening at the thought.

"Well, good luck with her tomorrow!" he said, giving me a thumbs-up.

"Thanks. Maybe we could grab breakfast some other time!" I yelled back as he walked away, and he smiled in response.

The next day came faster than I wanted.

I was driving to Jennie's building, my hands gripping the steering wheel tighter than usual. I was so nervous, my heart wouldn't stop pounding.

I was dressed neatly a pencil skirt paired with a white blouse and simple heels. Professional, but not too flashy.

Still, I kept glancing at myself in the mirror, fixing my hair, making sure I looked presentable.

Finally, I arrived at her building. As I walked toward the lobby, memories hit me like waves. The building looked the same.

Nothing had changed, except maybe the atmosphere.

The receptionist handed me an ID and allowed me inside.

Then, I heard it.

Screaming. Yelling. A sharp, harsh voice coming from Jennie's office. It made my stomach twist in knots.

"Don't worry, Ms. Kim always screams. She's very mean and cold nowadays," the lady at the desk told me calmly, as if this was normal.

I sighed, trying to calm my nerves. Cold. Mean. That's not the Jennie I knew... is it?

A couple of minutes passed, and I saw a woman coming out of Jennie's office, crying, wiping her tears as she rushed past me.

Dang... I thought, my heart dropping.

The lady at the desk finally looked up at me. "Ms. Kim is ready to see you now."

My palms grew sweaty, and my legs felt weak as I stood up.

Jennie... after four years, I'm finally going to see you again.
