LISA'S POV
After I got out of her office before her incident with Taehyung, I just sat down on a chair in the hallway and waited.
My legs crossed, my fingers fidgeting nervously, and my mind running in circles.
A couple of minutes later, Taehyung finally came out of Jennie's office. He was smirking like he had just won some kind of game, and as he adjusted his clothes, I could tell he wanted me to notice.
I rolled my eyes, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a reaction, and walked into Jennie's office.
This time, I knocked before entering, quietly stepping inside. I went straight to my desk without sparing Jennie a glance, though I could feel her gaze burning into me, heavy and unreadable.
"Sorry you had to see that," she finally said, her tone carrying an unusual softness.
"It's fine," I replied casually, forcing a little smile.
"Couples are supposed to kiss, right?" Jennie frowned slightly at my response but didn't say anything about it.
Instead, she asked, "I thought I was picking you up today? How did you get here so early?" Her confusion was written all over her face.
"Silly," I teased, "I have a car. And it's fixed now, so you don't have to worry about driving me anymore."
She nodded, though she didn't look entirely pleased. "I have a meeting, and I won't be back until 8:00 p.m. So... can you just take care of my office while I'm gone?"
I smiled brightly and nodded. "Of course."
She sighed, almost like she didn't believe my easy agreement. I looked up at her, and without meaning to, a small giggle slipped out.
"What are you laughing at now?" she asked coldly, raising a brow.
"Y-your tie..." I said between laughs. "It's... different."
Jennie glanced down and immediately walked over to the mirror. I watched her struggle to fix it, fumbling with the knot as her brows furrowed in frustration.
I stood up and slowly walked toward her. She turned to face me with no expression, just waiting.
"Can I?" I asked softly.
She gave a short nod.
I stepped closer, close enough to smell her perfume, and carefully undid her tie. My fingers worked to fix it neatly, but as I focused, I felt her eyes lingering on me.
When I dared to glance up, our gazes met, and before I could react, her arms wrapped gently around my waist.
My heart skipped a beat. For a second, I froze in her hold, but I quickly finished tying the knot and slipped out of her embrace. She sighed, almost disappointed, and turned away.
Hours passed since Jennie had left for her meeting, and I was honestly bored out of my mind. To kill time, I decided to walk around the building and explore a bit.
Eventually, I found myself near the conference hall. Through the glass window, I spotted Jennie sitting at the long table with other executives. She looked so professional, but also so... bored. An idea sparked in my head.
I waved at her, trying to get her attention. Thankfully, everyone else was facing away from me.
Jennie's eyes flickered in my direction, and when she saw me grinning, I jumped playfully like a little kid.
To my surprise, she gave me the biggest smile I'd ever seen from her. My heart melted at the sight, and I giggled softly to myself.
Mission accomplished.
I walked away, still smiling, but when I glanced back one last time, her expression had already shifted back into a frown.
It was 8:00 p.m., and the rain was coming down hard. I stood under a shade outside the building, staring at the sheets of water pouring from the sky.
My car was parked a little distance away, and I wondered how I was going to get there without getting completely soaked.
Just then, I felt someone step beside me. I turned my head and found Jennie standing there, holding an umbrella.
Without a word, she lifted it and moved closer so the umbrella covered me too.
JENNIE'S POV
Lisa smiled up at me, her eyes sparkling even in the dim light, and without realizing it, I smiled back.
Her smile... it was something else. Something warmer, brighter. Something that made my chest tighten.
And her smile... I see something more beautiful than the stars or the sunset, I thought.
"Stop smiling," I whispered before I could stop myself. "It makes my heart flutter."
For a moment, we just looked at each other, eyes locked as the rain fell around us. It was quiet, and for the first time in a long time, I didn't feel like Jennie Kim, the cold CEO.
I just felt like a woman standing in front of a girl who had unknowingly stolen my heart.
But the moment shattered when a voice called out loudly.
"Jennie!"
We both turned our heads to see Taehyung running toward us. My body stiffened as he immediately grabbed my waist, pulling me close in front of Lisa. I stood there awkwardly, not moving.
"Hey, babe," Taehyung said smoothly, ignoring Lisa completely. "Thought I was going to drive you to my place tonight and have some fun."
I glanced toward Lisa just in time to see the way her smile disappeared. She turned away without a word, her shoulders slightly slouched, and started walking to her car. My chest tightened painfully.
I watched her get inside, my heart screaming at me to stop her, but my body wouldn't move. Instead, I just sighed.
"Babe, let's go," Taehyung said, tugging me gently.
I forced myself to nod.
As Lisa drove past us, I instinctively hid the umbrella I had brought just for her. I didn't want Taehyung to know.
I tucked it behind my back, hoping he wouldn't notice, but of course, I wasn't fast enough.
"Aww, thanks for the umbrella, babe." He grinned and snatched it right out of my hand before I could protest.
I bit my lip, silently watching the red taillights of Lisa's car disappear into the rainy night.
