JENNIE'S POV
I woke up with a huge headache. My head was pounding so badly it felt like tiny hammers were banging inside my skull.
Slowly, I opened my eyes and blinked at the unfamiliar ceiling above me.
I looked around and realized immediately, this isn't my bedroom. My eyes widened, and panic shot through me.
I sat up quickly and looked down at my body.
Ok... my clothes are still on.
I'm not naked.
Thank God.
Letting out a shaky breath, I climbed out of the bed, my legs wobbling slightly, and made my way outside of the room.
"You're cleaning my toilet."
The sudden voice startled me, and I jumped.
"Relax, it's just me."
I turned and saw Lisa sitting casually on the couch, arms folded, her eyes glued to me.
"W-Why am I here?" I asked, my voice trembling a little.
She raised an eyebrow. "You don't remember?"
I froze, my mind trying to piece together the fragments of last night. Images started flashing back, one after another.
"I still love you."
"Stop! Only my Lili, Lisa can do that!"
"You're a beautiful girl."
"Stop throwing up, Jennie!!"
I gasped and my eyes widened even more, covering my mouth with my hand. The memories flooded in like a tidal wave.
"I-I'm sorry for the trouble," I said shyly, my cheeks burning with embarrassment.
"It's okay. You were drunk," she sighed, her tone calm but her eyes... her eyes looked heavy. Like she carried the weight of more than just last night.
"Brush your teeth," she said, handing me a new toothbrush. Our fingers brushed lightly as I took it, and my heart skipped a beat.
I nodded and quickly went to the restroom.
Inside, I looked at myself in the mirror and groaned. My hair was a mess, my eyeliner smudged, and my face screamed hangover.
I'm so stupid.
Why did I say all that?!
I'm not drinking ever again.
I brushed my teeth, rinsed my mouth, and splashed cold water on my face, trying to erase the regret written all over me. When I was done, I stepped back into the living room.
There she was.
Lisa.
Sitting there, looking effortlessly beautiful even in the morning light.
Her messy hair, her calm eyes, the way she sat, it was all too much. My heart thudded painfully against my chest.
Ding dong!
"Oh? Someone's at the door," Lisa said, standing up to answer it.
When she opened the door, my mood dropped instantly. Taehyung stood there with his perfect smile.
"I'm picking you up. Let's go," he said, his voice annoyingly cheerful.
I forced myself to nod. "Can you wait outside?" I asked, putting on the fakest smile I could.
"Sure," he said, stepping back.
The door closed, and the silence between me and Lisa hit harder than anything.
"Well, I guess this is it," Lisa said, her tone calm but her eyes distant.
"I hope you do well in life," I said, my voice shaking as I sighed.
"Thanks. You too."
I turned and walked toward the door, but my chest felt so heavy I thought it might crush me.
My hand hovered on the doorknob, and then... I stopped.
I turned around slowly to look at her one more time. Lisa, sitting there, pretending to be strong. Pretending like she wasn't breaking inside.
I sighed and closed my eyes.
I don't care about Taehyung.
I don't care about this stupid marriage.
I don't care about anything.
I'm getting my girl back.
Before I could talk myself out of it, I ran to Lisa, my feet carrying me straight to her.
She looked up, surprised, but before she could even speak, I grabbed her neck gently and pulled her toward me.
The next thing I knew, my lips were on hers.
Her eyes widened in shock for a split second, but then, then she melted into me. She immediately kissed me back, her lips soft but full of emotion.
My heart raced wildly, and for the first time in years, I smiled against her lips.
We pulled away, breathless, our foreheads still touching.
"Jennie, you can't—" Lisa whispered, her voice shaky.
"I don't care," I cut her off, my voice fierce and desperate.
Her eyes softened, but she shook her head. "If you keep hanging with me, you're going to be broken."
"You think you broke me?" I whispered, searching her eyes. She hesitated, then nodded slowly, as if admitting the guilt she carried for years.
"You're the one who put me back together," I said softly, my voice cracking.
Her lips parted, and her breath hitched. And in that moment, I knew neither of us could run from this anymore.
