JENNIE'S POV
It had been a couple of days since the fight. A couple of days without Lisa in my life. She hadn't been in the office, hadn't answered my calls, hadn't texted me back. The silence was unbearable.
I couldn't sleep. I couldn't eat. I couldn't even focus on my work. Every time I sat at my desk, my mind drifted back to her face, her voice, her laugh. I didn't want anything else, I just wanted to see Lisa.
A sudden knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. My heart leapt, pounding against my chest as I walked toward it. When I opened the door, my eyes widened.
Lisa was standing there.
"Come in," I said, my voice shaky. She stepped inside quietly, her expression unreadable.
When she turned around to face me, she was holding an envelope.
"Here," she said softly, forcing a small, sad smile.
My stomach twisted. "W-What's this?" I asked nervously, already afraid of the answer.
"My resignation letter," she whispered.
"I'm going to leave." The words shattered me.
"No! I won't take it!" I screamed, shaking my head in disbelief.
"You can't move on when I'm still here," she whispered, her voice breaking.
"You were right, Jennie. Taehyung needs you more than I do. Suicide is never the answer, he needs you." She placed the letter on my desk gently, as if she didn't want to hurt me more than she already was.
Then she stood directly in front of me, her eyes glassy with tears.
"I don't need to get anything from here... since everything is mostly yours anyway," she continued, her voice trembling.
"Goodbye." She gave me one last sad smile as tears rolled down her cheeks.
She walked past me toward the door, but I couldn't let her go. I grabbed her arm and pulled her into a hug.
She tried to break free, but I held her tighter, desperate. "Please... forgive me," I whispered against her hair.
"Jennie..." she mumbled softly. Then, as if time slowed, I felt her pull back. She looked down at her hand, and before I could react, she slipped the promise ring off her finger.
My heart stopped.
"No! No, don't take it off, please. You promised me that you'd never take it off!" I panicked, my voice cracking as I shook my head frantically.
"I did... but there are no more promises when I'm not with you," she whispered, her tears falling freely now. She gently placed the ring into my hand.
"Just don't lose it." I cried harder, clutching the ring as if it could stop her from leaving.
She stepped closer, lifting her hand to cup my cheek. Her thumb brushed away my tears.
"Stop crying, please," she whispered. "I don't like seeing you cry."
I leaned into her touch, my whole body aching.
"I never thought I would find love," she said softly, her voice shaking. "But I don't regret you, Jennie. I don't regret my first time, or my first kiss with you."
Her words broke me further.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I cried, clutching her hand against my cheek.
"I love you always, Lili," I whispered, my voice trembling.
"I love you too, Nini," she said, her smile bittersweet.
"I don't think... I cannot love anyone else the way I love you. It's impossible."
"Thank you... for coming into my life."
I pulled her into another hug, clinging to her like my life depended on it. When we finally pulled away, we stared at each other, both of us drowning in sadness.
I grabbed her waist and pulled her closer, my lips trembling. Slowly, I leaned in and kissed her. She kissed me back, soft and slow, as if it was the last time.
When we finally pulled away, she looked into my eyes.
"I'll find you, okay? So don't worry. I'll come back to you. I promise," I whispered, forcing a small smile.
God, I was going to miss her.
"I hate everyone in this world... except you," I admitted, and she nodded silently.
"Bye, Jen," she whispered.
"Where are you going?" I asked quickly, desperate for an answer.
"Somewhere... I don't know," she laughed weakly, the sound breaking my heart even more. I reached for her hand, holding it tightly.
"I'm going to miss you. I love you," I said, kissing her one last time.
"I love you too," she whispered back.
And then, she turned around and left.
I stood frozen in my office, tears streaming down my face.
No. I couldn't do this.
I immediately ran out, rushing to the elevator.
"COME ON, OPEN!" I yelled, slamming my hands against the door. Finally, it opened.
I jumped inside, pressing the button frantically.
"Hurry up!" I screamed, tears blurring my vision.
The doors opened, and I bolted out, running across the lobby and out onto the street. My eyes darted everywhere, searching for her.
And then I saw her.
Lisa.
She was walking down a quiet street, her figure slowly getting further away. The street was eerily silent, no one else around.
I sprinted toward her, my heart racing. But then I heard it, the roar of a motorcycle engine.
It sped past me and came to a stop right in front of Lisa. I froze in the middle of the street, breathless, my chest heaving.
The rider took off their helmet.
It was Rosé.
"You look like you need to get out of the city," Rosé said calmly, handing Lisa an extra helmet.
"I think I can set your mind free."
Lisa hesitated, sighing, but then... she took the helmet. My heart cracked in two as I watched her put it on.
She climbed onto the back of Rosé's motorcycle, wrapping her arms around her waist.
And just like that, they took off.
The motorcycle disappeared into the distance, taking Lisa away from me.
I stood there in the middle of the empty street, breathless, trembling, tears pouring down my cheeks.
And I cried like I had never cried before.
