LISA'S POV
It's been two days since I went to Disneyland with Jennie. Two days since that kiss, one I couldn't stop thinking about no matter how hard I tried.
Every time I closed my eyes, I could still feel it. The softness of her lips, the way she smiled right after, the way the fireworks lit up the night behind her.
My heart kept fluttering whenever the memory replayed in my mind.
Ughhh! I needed to move on. I should move on. But I couldn't. No matter how much I told myself to let it go, I just... couldn't.
And now, I'd made a decision.
I was going to do it. I was going to tell Jennie the truth, that I liked her. That I never stopped liking her.
The truth was, during the past four years, no matter where I went or what I did, all I could ever think about was Jennie. Her laugh, her eyes, the way she used to hold me. I missed her so much it ached, and the feelings never faded.
So tonight, I was going to tell her. I was going to tell her what I felt for the past four years, how I never stopped liking her... how I never stopped loving her.
Right now, I was sitting on the couch with Jisoo. She was scrolling on her phone while I tried to focus on the TV, but my thoughts were a million miles away.
Jennie and Taehyung had gone out to eat together, and I couldn't help but feel restless.
"What's on your mind?" Jisoo suddenly asked, not even looking up.
"Huh? Oh... nothing," I said quickly, forcing a smile.
"Liar," she smirked, finally glancing at me. I immediately looked down, caught red-handed.
"Tell me," she whispered, nudging me with her elbow.
I sighed, debating whether or not to say it.
"Is it about Jennie?" she asked casually, and my head shot up in shock.
Jisoo burst out laughing. "I knew it!"
"What do you mean?" I asked, cheeks heating up.
"You two are always looking at each other!" she laughed harder, shaking her head.
I couldn't help but smile a little.
"Tell me about y'all's chemistry," she said with a wink.
I hesitated, but then I nodded. "Well... I was her intern while I was in high school. Honestly, I was only there for an interview, but Jennie insisted she wanted me to be her intern. At first, she was really mean to me, cold, blunt, always criticizing me. But then I realized she wasn't that bad. She had her soft sides. Then one day, she kissed me and told me she liked me. I didn't know what to say at first—it took me a couple of days to sort out my feelings—but eventually, I realized I liked her back."
Jisoo leaned closer, listening intently.
"We ended up dating," I continued, my voice softening as the memories came rushing back. "We were so happy together... we were so in love. She made me feel like I was the only one in the world who mattered. But then... Taehyung came along. He was struggling with depression back then, and Jennie felt like the only way to help him was to leave me... for him. And she did."
I swallowed hard, the old pain surfacing. "She left me. I went off to college, tried to move on. Four years later, I graduated... met you, and somehow ended up here again."
When I looked back at Jisoo, she was staring at me, nodding slowly.
"Wow," she breathed.
"Yeah," I laughed bitterly. "Wow."
"I always knew Taehyung was between y'all," she said knowingly.
"Do you still like her?" she asked quietly.
I nodded without hesitation. "Honestly? I never stopped liking her. That's why I'm planning to tell her how I feel, and what I've felt during the past four years."
Jisoo gave me a soft smile. "I'm glad you're following your heart rather than ignoring it."
I let out a small laugh. "Thanks."
"So, when are you going to tell her how you feel?" Jisoo asked curiously.
"When she comes back," I replied firmly.
She nodded, approving.
Just then, Rosé came in and plopped down on the couch beside Jisoo.
"You still like her, don't you?" Rosé asked out of nowhere.
I froze, then slowly nodded.
"Sorry," I whispered, feeling guilty.
Rosé laughed lightly. "It's fine. I already knew you liked her anyway."
Before I could respond, the door opened.
Jennie walked in, her hand intertwined with Taehyung's.
Taehyung was grinning ear to ear, his happiness radiating across the room.
But Jennie... Jennie's expression was different. Her eyes looked sad, conflicted, almost like she didn't want to be there.
"Jennie, I need to talk to you," I said quickly, my voice breaking just a little.
But before Jennie could answer, Taehyung cut in.
"That can wait. Right now, we have an announcement!" he said cheerfully, squeezing her hand.
"What is it?" Jisoo asked, sitting forward.
"We're getting married!!" Taehyung exclaimed, holding Jennie's hand up proudly.
The words hit me like a punch to the chest.
I felt my world crumble around me.
I was too late.
