Chapter 32

Paige's P.O.V.

2 WEEKS LATER.

Derek and I had been together for a month now, and I was starting to settle into life at camp half blood.

Chiron was to make an announcement at the campfire that night.

Little did I know that everything was going to change.

~♥~

I sat cuddled up next to Derek around the campfire.

I still refused to sing the songs, but with Derek there, it was bearable.

When the song finished, Chiron rode up to the front if the glowing fire.

"Campers! I have an announcement to make." Immediately, everyone quietened.
"There has been a monster sighting in an abandoned industrial estate a few miles out. It is thought to be only one telkhine but it does need to be disposed of." Chiron waited for all that to sink in.

"I suggest a quest of 3 to go and dispose of the monster quickly. Connor, Travis. You take Paige with you. It will be good for her to get some experience monster hunting." I stared blankly for a few minutes, processing what was going on.

I was going on a quest.

With the stolls.

A small quest but it was still my first ever quest!

I felt Derek's hot breath on my ear as he whispered "you okay?"

"Yeah, I think so." I murmured.

"Don't worry. Telkhines aren't very viscous monsters. And pretty stupid."

It wasn't the telkhine I was worried about though. It was something about going away with Connor that set my teeth on edge.

"You will report to the forge in the morning. I believe the Hephaestus cabin has designed something that you may benefit from on your quest." Chiron announced before walking back to the side.

The fire roared back up and everyone started singing again, as if nothing had ever happened.

That night, Derek walked me back to my cabin.

We stopped outside the door and he took my hand, playing with my fingers.

"Stay safe okay?" Derek asked, not looking at me. "I would never forgive myself if something happened to you and I wasn't there."

I lifted his chin up to look me in the eyes.

"I'll be fine. I promise."

Derek left a long, lingering kiss on my lips that left me aching for more, before turning and walking back to his cabin.

Short chapter but ya. Hint for next chapter: Paige has a dream
