"Guess who?"

Jay grabbed my hands and pulled them away before he turned around, his face breaking out into a confused smile as he stood and hugged me.

"What the fuck?! Sades-- I haven't seen you since Christmas. What are you doing here?"

As we broke the hug, a wide smile was on Jayson's face.

"My mom's filming a movie this summer in Europe and--"

"And ain't no way they were gonna let you stay at home by yourself."

I playfully shoved him away then stuck up a warning finger pointed in his direction.

"Shut it."

A throat was cleared and as I looked past Jayson, I was met by four thoroughly confused-looking guys.

"Oh, shit! My bad, y'all. This is Sadie-- my baby sister."

"Baby sister my ass. I'll be eighteen in less than a month, so hush."

"Ryder... nice to meet you."

One of the guys stood from the table and extended his hand. When I reached in, he turned my hand over, kissing it.

"Nice to meet you, too."

After being introduced to the rest of the band, I joined them at the table, sitting between Ryder and Jayson.

Ryder was cute, but I wasn't really into pretty boys.

Now, Noah on the other hand... Fuck me! He was hot. Covered in tattoos and riddled with piercings, the way his brooding gaze stayed fixed on me had me biting my lip, squirming in my seat.

I was thankful when I got a call from Missy, one of my best friends. She and Ricky, my other best friend, were in Los Angeles. They were coming to the second show which was going to be at the Staples Center.

I walked out of the catering area and stood off to the side in the hall, leaning back against the wall with one foot propped up.

"Hey."

"Hey! So, we just got to the hotel and we're gonna go explore a little, but we're so excited for tomorrow. Hopefully, we can hang out before you guys have to leave."

"Yeah, maybe. But you guys can for sure come to the arena to hang out before the show."

"I can't believe you're on tour with Calvary. Girl, you're so lucky!"

I shrugged and slumped back against the wall, watching as crew members shuffled past me, all getting ready for tonight's opening show.

"I guess."

"You guess?! Sades, you are literally hanging out with rock stars. Hot rock stars. Tattooed rock stars."

The moment Missy mentioned tattoos, my mind instantly went back to the table in catering and to the blue-eyed bassist dripping in tattoos.

After getting off the phone, I returned to the table, met by curious looks on each of the guys' faces as I waved my phone in the air.

"Just some friends... they're going to the show tomorrow."

"A boyfriend?"

I looked over at Ryder, whose bright eyes flickered under the fluorescent light.

"Uh, no. Definitely not a boyfriend. Just... some friends."

Jay cocked his head back as his eyebrow raised in confusion.

"Wait, what happened to that kid you were dating? Adam something?"

"Alex."

"Yeah, what happened with him?"

I was silent for a moment after correcting my brother and as memories flooded my mind, I had to bite my lip to keep from spilling any tears.

"He ditched me at prom to hook up with someone else."

All the guys had shocked looks on their faces; Noah and Jay both shot up in their seats, Jay's hands in tight fists on the table as he spoke.

"Are you fucking serious? Why didn't you tell me?!"

"Because I know you, Jace. There's no need to kill the guy, it wasn't like I thought we'd be together forever."

Jayson sighed and sat back, momentarily satisfied with my answer.

"Alright, fine. I guess I can let the shit go. For now..."
