A bright smile was on my face and I wiped a happy tear from under my eye as my dad gestured across the table to my mom who was sitting on my other side, way more tears in her eyes than mine as my dad continued.
"I might've treated you differently than I did your brothers, but I wouldn't change any of it for a second. You'll always be my Princess."
As a large rose-gold cake with sparkly candles all over it was brought out, everyone at the large table began singing to me.
"...Happy birthday, dear, Sadie
Happy birthday to you."
After closing my eyes and blowing out the candles, I opened them as everyone clapped and cheered.
My parents both leaned in and kissed my cheeks, a tradition they had since my first birthday when I apparently went HAM on my mini-cake.
"You guys... I'm so happy."
I looked back and forth at both my parents until my eyes began to scan over the people at the table, stopping once I found Noah. He was seated between Luke and Ryder, who had also been staring at me.
My eyes couldn't stop drifting over to Noah, though.
It had only been five days since he decided to "slow things down" but on the road, those five days felt like five weeks.
Their first show after the first break was last night and we didn't go out; everyone decided to get an early jump on the drive to Canada, where we'd be for my eighteenth birthday.
✨
After dinner, I was disappointed to find out my mom had to fly right back to Europe, and after promising a shopping trip right after the tour was over, she was off to the airport.
My dad and his bandmates were all getting back into one of the sprinter vans and before the door shut, he shouted out in our direction.
"Jay, make sure you watch out for your sister!"
I rolled my eyes in annoyance, shaking my head as we all got into the second sprinter van.
"Alright, alright... let's go!"
Once we all got settled in, all eyes were on me, and I was suddenly confused at their cheesy grins.
"What?"
"Sis, it's your eighteenth birthday and we're in Canada and we have a full day on the road tomorrow which means..."
Jay glanced at all of the guys before Luke finally spoke up.
"We're gonna party our faces off tonight."
✨
The club was packed with tons of people and it sort of reminded me of the parties my dad threw while I was growing up.
We made it to our private booth, and as I took a seat Ryder sat on one side while Jay was on the other, leaning in to talk to me over the thumping music.
"What do you wanna drink?"
I made a face and shrugged before leaning in to respond.
"A birthday cake shot!"
He groaned and rolled his eyes, yelling over the music while throwing his head back and rolling his eyes.
"You're such a girl!"
I giggled a little and he was up the next moment, walking over to the bottle girl who was putting a bottle of vodka in one of the ice buckets on the table.
✨
I was still under the very alert and watchful eye of Jayson, but I was a few drinks in and I was starting to feel a little buzzed.
I was also glad I had the pasta for dinner; Had I not had something so heavy, I'd for sure be wasted.
I was rocking in my seat in the booth when, through the crowd, Ryder's green eyes were focused on me. He made his way back into the booth, smiling the whole time as he gazed at me until he was standing over me, leaning over to whisper-yell in my ear and gently grabbing my hand.
"You wanna dance?"
