ᗪᗩƳ 19"Damn, Kid. Never thought I'd ever see you so happy to get back on the road."
I smirked and rolled my eyes a little, knowing my dad was teasing me as we got into the car that would take us from the airport to the hotel in St. Paul.
"Miami was boring."
"Compared to being stuck on a bus for hours on end?"
I shrugged a little and bit my lip, trying to hide my smile while staring out the window. My dad chuckled a moment later and when I looked over, he was nodding his head.
"Ahh... Miami was boring without 'the boyfriend'. I get it. Which one is he again?"
I gave my dad a look and pointed at him for a second before looking away, my face beginning to hurt a little from all the smiling.
"Nice try, Old Man. I still haven't talked to Jay yet."
I put my hands up in defense when I saw my dad open his mouth to speak, cutting him off before the lecture could begin.
"And before you say anything, don't worry. Everything will be out in the open tonight after dinner."
✨
"So how was Miami?"
"Boring. Dad was busy during promotional stuff for the tour and I was at home. I missed you guys."
I smiled across the table at Jay, thankful that he and the boys had arrived early before my eyes drifted over to Noah. I bit my lip a little and began fiddling with my thumbs and index fingers.
Before Jay and the boys showed up, I was bored in my room, and I was starting to get a little hungry, so after a couple of Uber rides to the closest restaurant, I was patiently waiting for my cheesy, chicken quesadillas.
"Aww, we missed you too, gorgeous."
Ryder threw his arm around my shoulder, leaving a kiss on my cheek and as Jay warned him, all I could see was the irritation and annoyance on Noah's face.
"Dude!"
Ryder shrugged as he sat back in his seat, shaking his head with a huge grin on his face as he played innocent.
"Jay, relax, dude. I was just playing."
From the corner of my eye, I could see Ryder giving Noah a slight nod, and as Noah rolled his eyes and scowled, all I wanted to do was reach across the table and hold his hand.
✨
We all took two Ubers to the arena for the boys' rehearsal, and as Noah and I sat in the backseat with Winston next to the driver, Noah's fingers laced with mine and he tilted his head over at me, allowing me to gaze into his lake-blue eyes.
"If he ever touches you again, I'm going to break his fingers."
I smirked and sighed before biting my lip, hearing a low chuckle come from Winston. We both looked up at him in time to see him shaking his head before we were once again locked in a staredown.
Noah's eyes eventually traveled down to my lips and he smirked before leaning in, not caring that Winston or the driver were in the car.
I pulled back before it could get too steamy, resting my forehead as I whispered against his lips.
"We'll tell him tonight... at dinner."
